Chapter 12: Skeletons in The Closet

Riah's POV

I was on the expressway driving when my phone begin to ring back to back. "BITCH, I SWEAR TO GOD IMA KILL YOU IF YOU DON'T BRING ME MY BABY," Shootah screamed through the phone. "I'm done with you Shootah. I'm taking my baby and we're leaving town." I hung up on him before he could say anything else. My phone begin to ring again. I answered without even looking at the caller ID. "HELLO?!" The voice I heard that responded was not who I expected. "Wassup with it ma? Where you at? I'm coming home and I wanna see my child." I rolled my eyes. "Mari, I don't want nothing to do with your ass. What possess you to think I'll want you anywhere near my baby? You went to jail for beating your last bitch half to death." I heard him laughing darkly. "Stop playing with me. Don't make me come find you. You got that other nigga out here thinking that's his baby but you was fucking me the whole time. I want to see my child Riah. If I have to come find you, it's gone be hell to pay." I hung up the phone. I used to mess with Mari a couple years ago. Shootah didn't know it but I was sleeping with him too around the time I got pregnant. Mari was crazy as hell and he had a girl at the time I was talking to him. He was talking to some girl in school. I never knew who she was though and could never figure it out because he was so low key. I cut him off after I told him I was pregnant. I knew he wasn't any good for me and it was my chance to become a family with Shootah. Now look at me. I most definitely gotta get out of here. If Shootah doesn't kill me for thinking I sent Derrick, he's most definitely going to kill me when he finds out Alanah might not be his. Even if Mari is Alanah's dad, I could never let him get close to her. Mari was nothing but trouble. I couldn't let him find us either.

Shootah's POV

"I'm done with you Shootah. I'm taking my baby and we're leaving town," was all I heard before Riah hung up on me. She had to know better than this. I knew she would try something like this which is why I had somebody watching the house the whole time. That hoe wasn't taking my baby NOWHERE. "Yo. Y'all still following her?" I said to one of my soldiers on the phone. "Yeah, she's headed South on the expressway. I wonder where the hell she going."

"Stay on her. Keep me updated." I didn't know where she was going but I was most definitely about to find out. She had me fucked up thinking I was going to let her take my child and dip. It was time to shut all of this shit down.

"You okay baby?" I heard Kira say. I didn't even hear her come outside. "Yeah I'm good. You ready to go?" She observed me closely. "It doesn't matter to me. I was in there talking to your mom. She seems pretty upset." I nodded my head and kissed her lips. "We can chill here for a minute then. We both went back in the house. I watched my mom and Kira interact with each other and smiled a little bit to myself. I  was worried about Alanah. Riah had really pissed me off but looking at Kira and my mama talk made me feel a little better. "Donte, baby I'm sorry. Everything happened so fast. I can't believe she took my grand baby." My mama began to get upset again and I hugged her tight. "It's all good ma. I'm going to get her."

Kira's POV

The day had took a turn so fast and it had just started. "BITCH, I SWEAR TO GOD IMA KILL YOU IF YOU DON'T BRING ME MY BABY," was all I heard. I was going outside to check on Donte. I stepped back when I heard him scream into the phone. I heard him talking to someone else and waited until he hung up to walk out the door. I didn't want him to think I was ease dropping. "You okay baby?" I asked him. He turned around. "Yeah, I'm good. You ready to go?" He looked down at me and I could see in his eyes that he wasn't okay. He looked away. "It doesn't matter to me. I was in there talking to your mom. She seems pretty upset." He kissed me and said we could chill there for a little while longer. We both walked in the house. His mom was in the kitchen washing dishes trying to keep busy. "Hey, Ms. Janet, you okay? You need anything?" I asked her. She smiled lightly. "I'm okay baby. Thank you. You seem like such a sweet girl. I been waiting for Donte to find him a good woman so he can sit down somewhere." We both laughed. She continued to ask me questions about myself. The conversation flowed so smooth. You would have thought she was my mama. It seem like she liked me but you never knew with people. That wasn't my concern anyway. I just wanted to make sure everybody was okay. What did you do to my son? I've never seen him like this before?" I shrugged my shoulders. "That's my dawg forever before anything." She shook her head and laughed. "Y'all are a trip. I hope y'all make it count because he can't bring nobody else around now." I smiled to myself. Even in the mist of all the crazy stuff that was going on, I was glad to try to keep the mood light. First it was Demarcus and now it was Donte's little girl. I couldn't help but to worry about him. I could see darkness in his eyes. I didn't want him to do something he would regret.
