"You know Liz will probably ship most of your stuff. You only need to pack a single bag now." Jess said as he watched her from the corner of their small room, trying to light a cigarette.

"I know that. It's just if mom is shipping my stuff she has to pack it first. And I don't want her finding all my shit." Jules grumbled as she pulled more of her t-shirts out her drawers.

"Oh yeah?" He questioned sarcastically, a lit cigarette now hanging from his lips. "I doubt she would even look at anything she's packing. Just throw it all in some boxes and send it over."

Jules threw him an annoyed look. "Mom would look and she would probably ground me for life."

"Not if we're living in the perky little Connecticut town of 'Stars Hollow'." He imitated in a happy voice before stubbing out the cigarette on their wall.

"At least we'll be out of this room, maybe even get our own rooms." Jules said as she gathered all the things she didn't want her mom to see and threw them in a backpack.

"Yeah, keep dreaming." He said, pushing himself off the wall and heading over to his bed, which was currently the top bunk of their small metal bunk bed they had slept on since kids.

"Jess, you don't need to be so pessimistic all the time. Maybe you'll like Star's Hollow." She smiled, gathering her hair and pulling it into a ponytail.

"Fat chance." He laughed as he flipped open the book.

"Jess." Jules rolled her eyes, flicking through her CD collection and plucking out the disks she deemed essential. "Don't you need to pack?"

"Already done." He mumbled gesturing with his head where his duffel bag was laying. "And you better hurry up. The bus leaves soon. Wouldn't want to miss it, would we now."

"We're going whether you make us miss the bus or not, so don't even think about it." Jules reminded him as she threw her makeup bag into the rucksack, concluding her packing and zipping up the bag.

She turned to next to the bed and grabbed her skateboard from where it was leaning on the side, tucking it under her arm. "I'm ready."

With a small sigh he slipped his book in his Jean pocket, and hopped off the bunk. "Then let's go."

It's a sigh from Jules she pulled on her backpack and watched as Jess picked up his duffel bag, swinging open the door and waiting for Jules to walk through. "How chivalrous of you." Jules smiled as she walked past, letting him slam the door behind them.

"Yeah, I'm a proper gentleman." Jess muttered as they headed to the living room where they inevitably found their mother scouring the fridge.

"Mom, we're going to be late for our bus." Jules called out, making her pause and close the door, heading over to her children.

"Oh, my babies. I'm going to miss you two." She pouted, running her hands through Jules' hair. "Now be safe." She said, kissing Jules on the cheek and moving onto Jess.

"You too, Jess. And both of you try not to get into any trouble." She said, kissing Jess on the cheek with him being much more reluctant to receive it.

"Yeah. We'll be like angels." Jess said in a monotone voice as he slumped his bag over his shoulder and turned to leave.

"Jess, look after your sister." Liz said seriously.

"She's sixteen, I don't think I quite need to babysit her anymore." Jess called from the hall.

"And he's only a year older, mom. I'll be fine." Jules reassured her again.

"Well, do you guys want me to walk you to the bus station?" She asked, following them into the hall her hands clasped in front of her.

"I think we'll manage." Jess said again in a serious voice.

"Well, that's good sweetie. I actually wouldn't have been able to im going to meet someone." Their mom laughed.

"Of course you are." Jess sighed. "Now we're going to go."

Jules turned back to her mom, giving her another small hug and then followed Jess to the door.

"Goodbye my babies! Behave for your Uncle Luke!" She shouted after them, Jess ignoring her and Jules turning to give her a small wave as the door slammed shut.

"At least we won't have to deal with her anymore." Jess muttered as he headed down the stairs of their apartment building.

"I'm going to miss her." Jules mumbled, following him down the stairs.

"It's because you don't realise what a complete nutcase she is yet." Jess growled.

"She isn't." Jules sighed.

"She is. She's a nutcase and a flake and I don't know how you don't see it yet because she's let you down plenty of times." Jess shook his head.

"She's not a nutcase or a flake." Jules repeated.

"Oh please, she's a complete wackjob and she's flaked so many times I wouldn't be able to list them all." He turned to look at Jules.

Jules was silent for the rest of the way as she followed him down the stairs until they made it to the bottom floor and Jess paused, and she could hear him sigh.

"I'm sorry." Jess said almost angrily.

"Sorry for what." Jules replied.

"I'm sorry about saying all that stuff about Liz. I know you still like her to some degree."

"Yeah, you could say that."

"It's just she's let us down too many times. When you get older you'll understand."

"I'm only a year younger than you, Jess."

"And that still means your my little sister, now c'mere." He said extending his arm.

Jules tried to conceal a smile as she walked over and he hooked her shoulder keeping them close together.

"I can't wait to see you in a small town." She snorted under her breath.

"Not funny." He said in a monotone voice, slightly pushing her away.
