"All ready?" - Sasuke questioned the others already heading to the exit.
"Yea!" Sakura replied before addressing Ino. "Are you sure you're staying?"
"I do have Sakura. I can't deal with these things anymore... I'm sorry..." – she was embarrassed.
"No problem, Ino." – Neji replied. "It's nice to have someone here to keep this place safe! As soon as we leave you activate the security code to lock everything. Then just keep an eye on the cameras and wait for us to come back. Combined?"
'At your command!'
"Well then, let's go." - Tenten headed for the exit.
"Good luck guys! Be careful..." - Ino wished them before returning to the security room. Everyone headed outside and waited for Ino to block the entrances, making sure they left her safely. They began to walk in long steps towards the beach.
"So, what's our plan?" Sakura asked as they walked attentively through the woods.
"We have to go over there and see what the situation is first." - Sasuke replied harshly. "Let's hope they haven't caught up with them yet, or it's going to be impossible to rescue them."
"We'll find a way, whatever the situation." - Neji thwarted Sasuke's thoughts, not liking the idea of leaving his cousin behind.
"Sure." - Sasuke didn't hide his dissatisfaction with having Sakura accompanying them. "Want me to take your backpack?" - He offered looking at her from the corner.
"No, I'm fine. It's good that this medical kit stays with me."
"Well you're not, Sakura. Can you at least see with both eyes?"
"I know my eye swelled up a little, but it's not for that much Sasuke!"
"Okay, enough of this tense atmosphere!" - Tenten imposed herself. "Let's change the subject, does anyone here know how to sail or fly a small plane? Maybe we'll find something on the airstrip!" - Everyone looked at each other shaking their heads in the negative. "Damn it..."
"Our only option is to wait for rescue so... do you think he meant it? Do you think we can trust?" Neji kept his voice low so as not to draw attention to anything that might be around.
"I do not trust him." Sasuke was firm.
"He can let us rot here... I think we should keep looking for other signals on the radio..." Sakura suggested.
"So that's going to be the plan... we're locked in the central looking for some rescue until someone really shows up..." Neji didn't look hopeful. "Do the cameras show the airstrip, Sakura?"
"Yes they do. We can take care of there from the central until someone shows up. We'd better pick up whatever fruit we find on the way... the less we need to go out looking for food, the better."
Everyone agreed and continued filling Sakura and Tenten's backpacks with small and large fruits and green leaves that looked like cabbages, turnips and other vegetables. As they walked with long strides, it didn't take them long to reach the beach where they were before. They looked closely around and found that there was really no sign that "the others" were still around. They saw numerous footprints in the wet sand, which alarmed and scared them, finally realizing that Naruto had not exaggerated in his report.
As they were devoid of any vessel, the only option was to go to the tower and go around the beach. This time they walked a little slower, fearing to emit any sounds that might draw attention to them, after all, they didn't know where their enemies were or if they would be grouped in large numbers. The closer they got to the base of the tower, the more nervous and trembling they became with the expectation of what they would see, and what they saw was no less: there were about forty of them hovering around the base of the tower.
