-Flashback-

"When is it enough for you Shane, when is it enough? When do you have enough gold medals around your neck? Before you know it, you'll be exactly like mom and dad" Rylie's voice echoed through the hallways.

Just like mom and dad. I hated that sentence; I hated it so much. And to hear it coming from my eldest brother's mouth, hurt the most. He was supposed to be the one that made us completely different from our parents.

"That was a low blow. You know that I wish anything more than to be nothing like our parents. If I could remove my name from their children, I would. I would sacrifice my life for that" this was just another one of the weekly arguments between the two.

My face was pushed up against the wooden frame of the home that our parents had bought many, many years ago. I took a glance into the kitchen, seeing Rylie standing on one side of the kitchen bench, while Shane sat on the other, still dressed in his football gear like usual.

Rylie was looking more and more like our father as each day passed, or what I thought our father looked like. I didn't really remember him, and I don't think the littles would either.

Shane, on the other hand, looked more like our mother. I remembered her more, as she spent more time with me than my father did. My mother spoke the most to me; I saw her in a different light compared to the rest of my siblings.

"I don't understand why we can't just work together" Rylie exasperated. Growing up, I always saw the two of them together. Everything they did was like a pair. But now, they were like our parents. Our parents would argue all night long, but those two would always calm us down. "Because you never listen to me"

Those same words had spilled from my mother's mouth, only a year ago, which only happened to be a few nights before my father and her got in a car accident.

"Jay" a small voice spoke, as I quickly spun around, hushing the small body that was pressed to my leg. The voices in the kitchen halted, and I knew I had been caught. I normally came down here every night to listen; to make sure everything was alright.

To make sure it didn't end the same that it had with my parents.

I then heard the footsteps that I dreaded, knowing my two eldest brothers had heard George and I. Why can I just not be heard?

"Were you eavesdropping!?" the question dripped from Shane's mouth as soon as he had rounded the corner. He was always straight to the point, whereas Rylie wasn't. No offense to Shane, but I prefer Rylie. "It would be hard not to, Shane" Rylie smacked the back of his neck, before softening his eyes when he turned towards me.

"FRANNY!" a small voice shouted, causing all our attention towards the front door, where Rylie's best friend had just walked in.

Francesco Martinez; he was basically just another older brother to us all. All of his younger brothers were basically best of friends with each of us, and so were we.
