"I had known from a young age, that I was no replacement for my father. I wasn't even good enough to replace the hole that Riley had left in our family. It took a brother, though, to replace the hole that one had left. It took a lot of me to raise those kids to being the people that they are today"

"Where are the other three?" that question from my sister, made my blood boil. I had hardly said anything, as they had just walked in, wanting to see the new house. They thought that it was a house warming party, as apparently Grayson had mentioned something about us being in a new house, and that it should be something to celebrate.

He had then taken it upon himself to walk upstairs, and knock on a door, while I just stood down here, keeping an eye on the one sibling that had gotten everything. From the moment that she was born, our mother had doted on her. Dressed her like she was going to a high tea party every day, while she constantly had money whenever she was going out with friends.

I had never been given such a luxury, as I had just fallen in line with the rest of the boys in the family. Deep down, I wish that Skylar had gotten the same treatment, but I knew that she never wanted to be dressed up. She never wanted to wear a dress if she didn't have to. I knew, whenever she dressed up, she did feel beautiful, I just wish that she knew that she didn't have to cover herself in makeup to feel beautiful because she was.

She lit up a room that she walked in, and I couldn't say the same for her sister. "Shay, I couldn't find them. I got no response when I knocked on Skylar's door" I didn't need to explain their absence. I knew it would be killing them to be surrounded by all of these people. I didn't want to force them to come down if they didn't want to, and I wouldn't.

I would never force any of them. I knew their was many situations that went unspoken in this household, one being the way they had matured quicker than I had ever wanted them to. They were like my babies, my children that were growing up in front of me. No one else had ever wanted to take them in, but I did. I did, because it didn't feel like a chore, but rather like watching a movie before my eyes.

Whenever Riley wasn't here, which for the most part of the years that he did live with us, he wasn't part of their lives, so I had to step up. I became a sole parent in their eyes, and I know that we have our problems and our differences, but I know they know I would never hurt them. I am just trying to get them through life with whatever I can for them.

It is all for them. "I want to see Skylar" that made me skin crawl, knowing that Summer was only here for her sister. The sister that I was sure wanted nothing to do with her, just like the rest of her siblings that were residing with her. I was proud, in my heart, that they were standing their ground. They deserved this.

"She doesn't want to see you" I muttered, resting my hands on the kitchen counter, letting my head fall between my shoulders, as I kept my eyes on the countertop. "You wouldn't know what Skylar would want" that sentence alone, made my heart ache, knowing that they were the same people they had been when they left.
