Bunnymund's p.o.v

The next morning I woke to a bowl of oatmeal with blueberries and water though I didn't know who made it. As I looked around however that's when some panic set in. Jack was no longer in bed. In his place was Sandy who seemed pretty calm as he pointed to a note on the table which I picked up to read.

The note was obviously written by someone who wasn't using there dominant hand which clued me in that it was Jack who wrote the note while I read.

Hey bunny, Phil is helping me out with getting in the physical therapy so I can at least walk around the workshop. I didn't want to wake you to let you know as you need the sleep also for the oatmeal you can thank Toothiana. She came in to check on us this morning. She got me breakfast too so please don't get upset with her.

P.S. thank you for helping me while I was out. I was informed it was several hours I was unconscious and had suffered a fever though you had been diligently keeping near to keep my temp down. Glad to know the big tough Easter bunny has a soft and concerned side. Enjoy breakfast bunny I will likely be in the living room after Phil helps me out a bit.

Signed: Jack

After reading Jack's note I couldn't help feeling a sense of happiness towards it and despite distance I'm sure Jack could sense it considering he's the guardian of fun. Sandy looked to me curious though I explained it was a thank you note from Jack before looking to the oatmeal again. Despite it not being my normal kind of breakfast I had ate it without fussing realizing Tooth had kept it to my preference so it was made with water instead of the normal steamed milk that most oatmeal had.

After eating I had gotten out a brush to smooth out my fur from sleeping before seeing if Sandy wanted to come check on Jack too however this time Sandy signals that we shouldn't overwhelm Jack and that it was best to have one to two people checking on him at a time. When Sandy showed that, it didn't take long to figure out Jack was going to be very cautious and more then likely be jumpy for awhile.

It angered me that summer or autumn spirits were taking advantage of Jack's period of weakness which was at its highest right now. It was August or what Jack called 'the fire spirit's rendezvous'. He had explained that he usually goes into hiding during the month as the fire spirits became violent towards him and on multiple occasions would attack him however it seemed this year they were trying to actually kill off the spirit of winter. Didn't those gumbies know killing one of the main seasonal spirits was punishable by mother nature's wrath?! She was protective and could take form of any animal she chose to keep an eye out though she had to keep her cool while doing so.

Even I the protector of Spring knew what these spirits did to Jack was against the oaths that we each took and so if possible I needed to chat with mother nature though how I go about that I was unsure. On one hand it could make the summer and autumn seasons more angry with Jack. On the other though she needed to know. Jack's life was on the line every time they attack. Heck Snowflake nearly bit the dust during this attack and is now down.

There was no way he would be recovered in time for his season. Broken bones still took a month to two months in order to get them repaired even with our sped up recovery and then there were the burns which would leave scars considering Jack was the embodiment of winter.

Objective aside for now I had reached the library where even behind a closed door I could hear Jack's still rather rough sounding breathing which was concerning and the smell of dried blood clung to Jack with a vise grip. It took everything in me not to go in there and hold Jack protectively with no intention of letting him go till he was better though I knew that was unrealistic.

In the library I had spotted Jack using his staff like a crutch which was expected and then I relized Phil had layed out multiple landing pillows if Jack's legs failed him and though I knew it could be used as leverage later I went to help give Jack one more person to lean into if needed. I was glad I had done so as Jack only got a few more feet before his legs gave out under him. I quickly moved to steady him as did Phil before we took Jack to his bean bag chair in the library to set him down and recover.

Jack's staff was back at the pillow path so I went to grab it only for Phil to tell me "no" in his language before going to grab it which left me to watch over Jack who was already showing signs of falling asleep from fatigue. Despite better judgment I had gently picked Jack up only to lean into the bean bag chair holding Jack protectively.

When Phil returned he had asked if I wanted the light out however I told him "it's ok to leave it on mate" so Phil nodded and left making sure to put a do not disturb sign on the door before returning to the workshop toy floor. Shortly after me and Jack were asleep though I kept a gentle paw on his back rubbing soothing circles to let him know he wasn't alone and got a contented sigh in response. Hate to admit this but, I loved Jack and planned to let him know slowly but surely. He is no longer going to be alone if we as the guardians can help it.
