Bunnymund's P.O.V

When Jack arrived next to me I could feel the eagerness coming off of him as he looked at the admittedly massive track I had here in the warren. I had smiled happy that he was impressed before giving him the rundown.

I had told him that the course was about the length of a softball field and that it had various obstacles that would pop up at random though I assured him that they would be inactive for the time being. After explaining a little bit I looked to Jack to make sure he understood and got a thumbs up. Soon after I showed him to the viewing area so he could locate the trap positions as I didn't want him hurt by them despite the traps being relatively harmless as they were just pictures of various objects that he either hits or dodges as well as mud spots which were the main danger as he could actually slip on it and injure himself and the same went for myself as I wasn't immune to my own traps.

"This track will test your endurance and reaction time and though the traps are inactive please keep in mind primarily the mud pits as even I won't be able to help as I'm at risk just as much as you are of them. The last time I activated the mud pits I had sprained my ankle terribly and was down for nearly a month and half stuck on bed rest which I know you are not keen on."

At that I got a nod confirming he understood and agreed so I continued "to give a rough estimate on length it's about the length of a softball field and has a total of about twenty obstacles along various parts of the field" at that I got yet another nod before he asked if we could get going on the race as he learned from actually expirencing it.

I admired how fast he wanted to learn new stuff though deeper down I knew that statement held weight to it. He had no choice but, to learn from watching and trying to repeat even if it took him a while. It was another reminder of what we had ignored and that was the fact we had ignored a young adult for over three hundred years as we mainly saw him as a nuisance in the past but, now we knew just how wrong we were and Jack had paid the price by feeling constantly alone and abandoned in a world he had watched change around him though it paid him no mind.

I mentally shook my head from those thoughts clearing them away for now though that baggage would eventually have to be asked in person but, for now it was time Jack learned how to run on all fours and gradually learn when to switch between his human form and pookan form as well as any other form he may want to practice.this track we're on is several years old though it still looked brand new as maintenance was performed daily. When I went to look towards Jack I had relized he was down at the starting line already and seemed ready to go as if he had already memorized where the obstacles were. Relizing this I went down to the track as well and went to Jack's right side and two lanes over so I didn't accidentally bump him as we raced.

Jack's P.O.V

As I felt the ground beneath my paws I could understand why Aster preferred it over any other surface. It was warm and soft under my paws and I could detect any movement that may have been nearby. My ears picked up on the egglets moving around as well as mine and Bunnymund's heart rate. It still seemed weird my mind would subconsciously default to taking the form of a pooka though I do miss being human but, until I have better control I'm kind if stuck in this form though I didn't mind.

I could tell I was triggering something in Bunnymund though I was confused by the sudden change. He had been fine a few days ago but, now seemed to be avoiding me when we weren't busy with other stuff. I'm glad he is up to teaching me how to move skillfully around obstacles while also teaching me coordination on all fours which I was good at though it still makes me concerned for him. What is going through the tough pookan warrior's head right now?

Bunnymund's P.O.V

Why is frostbite staring at me like that? I'm doing decent despite the fact my heat was currently going though I have it in control for now though it is enduring to know jack is concerned for me when he's the one I should be worrying about especially with that scare not that long ago. I knew those summer spirits were lurking. I have been keeping tabs on them while Jack slept so there have been a couple sleepless nights.

I know what those spirits want and I won't let them in. I have closed up all entrances into the Warren as I knew the fire spirits were constantly around trapping both me and Jack inside pretty much. Shaking that thought away for the time being I focused back on the track before going on all fours and counted to ten before bolting onto the track and was quickly followed by Jack.

As we ran on all fours I could tell Jack had picked up on the running pattern and overtook me in seconds. As we approached the finish I put on one more burst of speed and ended up tying as we crossed at the same time. When I looked to Jack he had the biggest smile I've seen before he started cheering and hopping around getting decent air time. As I watched him having the time of his life a thought in the back of my mind reminded me that I needed to protect him no matter what.
