Relapse In Time

"...a semi-stable one hundred year old man" bucky smiles as Steve and Sam greet him in the near distance, "and a totally normal thirteen year old kid" Veda runs up behind him. Bucky sighs, "I told you to wait in the car" he shakes his head as she runs past him and jumps at Steve. Steve chuckles, "easy tiger..." he catches her, "it's been a while, huh?" he adds. Veda smiles, "mmhmm" she moves to give Sam, who doesn't seem as social, a warm hug. Sam sighs, "what's up with the avengers and hugs?" He enquires. Veda huffs, "stop being a grump" she raises an eyebrow. Bucky shrugs, "she's not wrong" he looks at Sam who doesn't look impressed.

       "You're letting her in on this?" Steve looks at bucky as Veda tries attacking Sam to get red wing from his back.  Bucky shrugs, "no I'm not, she's staying in the palace with Shuri. She can watch her help vision in the lab" he furrows his brows.  Steve nods, "we need to get back to the palace, it's not long before he finds out the stone is here" T'challa interrupts.

         "You aren't to leave this lab, you hear me? You have wanda to look after you and she won't hesitate to stop you from escaping if she has to" bucky turns to face Veda.  The young girl looks up at him, "please don't get hurt..." she wraps her arms around his waist.  Wanda smiles at the encounter before turning back to help vision, "I won't, I promise..." he rubs her shoulder.  He pulls away, "I'll see you real soon" he nods.  Veda steps away and nods, watching as Steve takes him away from her.  Wanda steps forward, "he'll be back soon, Veda. Don't worry..." she smiles.  Veda nods, "yeah..." she sighs, "how's vision?" She changes the subject.

"You sure they can't get in?" Steve stares in disbelief as a huge army of aliens begin attacking the shield around the palace and village. Ayo nods, "we're safe, for now" she sighs. Nobody says a word as the aliens begin circling the perimeter, attacking their way in. A young soldier gasps, "they're killin themselves..." she frowns as they pry their way through the shield, resulting in them losing their arms and legs, some even dying. T'challa looks around, "they're attacking from behind" a soldier announces over their ear pieces, "then keep them in front of us" he replies. Steve shakes his head, "we need to fight" he steps forward.

The Wakandan soldiers get rid of their shields, before chanting a word, "yibambe!" They chime. T'challa nods, "Wakanda forever!" He leaps towards the chaos, as everyone charges after him. Sam flies over head and begins firing rockets at the base of the shield, slowing down any creatures who seem to have broken through. Rhodey flies behind him, "watch your back!" He yells, launching missiles from his suit, blowing up a storm of aliens as the rest fight a few yards behind them.

Veda holds her breath as the scene unfolds before her very eyes, "they're okay" wanda reassures her. Veda looks around as the palace begins to sway, "do you feel that?" She looks up at the guards. Before anyone can agree, the door comes smashing down and in storms a sea of aliens, "we gotta go!" Wanda yells. Shuri shuts down the operating mission and looks up, "take him to the forest" she nods. Wanda looks around before using her powers to smash the windows, she then uses her powers to pull Veda and vision into her arms before floating out of the palace.

"Drop me here!" Veda yells over the sound of explosions and gun fire. The witch sighs, "be careful!" She warns. Veda nods as Wanda lets her go. Bucky looks up, "what the hell are you doing?" He watches as Veda lands on her back from falling out of the sky. He pulls her up and nudges her away to kill another alien behind her, "I thought I made myself clear, you are to stay in the palace" he looks at her angrily. She brushes herself off, "what palace?" She stares at the building behind them which is already collapsing. Bucky stares at the building in sadness, "on your right!" Veda squeals. Bucky quickly raises his gun and destroys another alien.

"What the hell..." Veda looks up as huge circular spiky rings come rolling through the holes in the shield. Bucky picks Veda and the raccoon up before jumping into a nearby ditch, hoping they don't get trampled on. Veda stares at the animal, "how..." she shakes her head, "nice to meet you too" the raccoon speaks. She looks at bucky in confusion, "there's a talking tree too..." he shoots another alien.

Roughly ten minutes later, and word that thanos has arrived has spread around the avengers. So as they stealthily wander into the forest, they keep a close eye on their surroundings. Steve comes to a sharp halt, "he's over there..." he motions for everyone to stop. Veda looks up and notices a familiar tree, it's the really tall one she likes climbing up to see the whole kingdom during sunset. She slips away from buckys side, "V..." bucky hisses. She quickly bolts up the tree and hangs off the branch at the top, "uh oh..." she quickly slides back down, "they're coming..." she looks up at bucky. Before they can say another word, the fighting has begun again.

          Somehow, Veda ends up separated from bucky and Steve during the fighting, she looks around as everything turns eerily silent, "Sam..." she runs over to her friend.  Just as Veda reaches out for the falcon, the older man disintegrates into thin air.  Vedas breath hitches and before she knows it, she's already on the floor breathing heavily in fear and confusion.  She looks up to see the raccoon holding his tree friend, although the tree seems to be disintegrating too... what's happening?

         She jumps to her feet and runs through the trees until she's greeted with Steve sitting on the floor next to a deceased vision, "bucky?" She calls out fearfully.  Steve looks up at the kid, "where's buck?" Veda steps forward.  The look on Steve's face makes her feel sick, just then, another Wakandan soldier disintegrates into the floor.  Veda let's out a loud sob as her knees give out beneath her.  The sound of crunching grows louder as Natasha comes running over to them, she freezes when she sees the scene ahead.

         "Where's bucky, Steve? Where's buck?" Veda cries, punching the ground as nat kneels on the floor, "he promised we would go fishing..." Veda sobs as the older woman pulls her into her arms.  Steve looks around, "what is this? What's going on?" Rhodey speaks up.  Thor looks around, "he did it..." he storms off, angrily.  Steve keeps his eyes on the ground, "oh god..." he mutters.
