I sat at the table of the great hall in Eastwatch along with Ser Davos, Gendry, Ser Jorah, and a huge man with flaming red hair whom I don't know. This is one of the great castles the Night's Watch uses to station men. However, it was currently being used to house wildlings, which I found odd, since the Night's Watch was sworn to keep wildlings north of the wall. We were making a quick stop here before going Beyond the Wall.
I hadn't felt cold like this in a long time. It was almost refreshing. I missed feeling the frigid snowflakes melt upon my hair and skin. However, it made me sad. It reminded me of the family that I no longer have. Too many Starks have lost their lives in the recent years. I refuse to allow anyone else in my house to die.
"Tormund. A pleasure to see you again, old friend," Jon said as he took his seat at the head of the table.
"Aye, good to see you as well. Didn't expect to see you here so soon, Lord Commander."
"No, not Lord Commander. Not anymore. My watch has ended."
Tormund rolled his eyes. "You crows and your vows. You always take them so seriously. Just say you left, you don't need to go through all of the trouble to say your watch has ended..."
"You've befriended a wildling," I concluded aloud, upon realizing that this man was not only a wildling, but my brother's friend.
"Free Folk," he corrected.
"Free Folk... I've never heard that before."
Tormund then laughed.
"She's never heard the phrase 'Free Folk,' and you want to take her Beyond the Wall, crow?!" he exclaimed, turning to Jon.
I frowned. "You have no idea what I've experienced, what I've survived since I was eighteen. You have no right to determine what I can or cannot survive, wildling," I said angrily.
He rose and walked over to where I was, trying to intimidate me with his superior height.
"What did you say, little girl? Repeat for me."
"I don't believe I stuttered... And I despise repeating myself," I replied, frowning and looking up to meet his gaze.
We glared at each other for a moment more, then he began to chuckle loudly.
"I love this woman! Not as much as the big lady, but I love you!" he exclaimed jokingly.
"That's my sister, Tormund," Jon said as the red haired giant sat back down, still giggling to himself like a young boy. "Anyway, I came here to seek your help. We're on our way to capture a White Walker from Beyond the Wall, and I-"
"Isn't it your job to talk him out of stupid fucking ideas like this?" Tormund interrupted, directing the question at Ser Davos Seaworth.
"I've been failing at that job as of late," Davos responded.
"And how many queens are there now?" Tormund asked.
I was annoyed at how off-topic this was getting. We need to get to the point and accomplish this as soon as possible. I want to get back to Dragonstone as soon as possible so I can serve my queen.
