Lilliana was cuddled up in her armchair with a thin cotton blanket thrown over her lap. Her living room was immersed in darkness. iPad in her lap as she surfed the web.
Her Saturday had been busy but now that she had nothing to keep her mind on other things it was drawn to the events last night. Most importantly, Nick confessing his (and his brothers') love for her. She knew it was there but she still couldn't believe it. Couldn't believe they were still in love with her all this time and now that they were older it seemed those feelings had grown, despite her lack of presence.
Or maybe her coming back brought all those feelings forth.
Lily looked at the time, it was 5:44 pm. Lucas was out with his friends so there would be no weekend movie night. Unfortunately, she was stuck at home doing nothing.
Her big home was starting to feel like a huge carcass. If only she knew how to make friends. She was terrible with talking to people and having small talk. She always felt social anxiety and Lucas was like her anchor every time they went out. He would talk for her. Lily envied him, he always knew what to say in any situation. She never knew what to talk about so she would come off as quiet and somehow be seen as a stuck-up bitch. Sadly she wanted to talk to people, wanted to be their friends! She just didn't know how! She truly hated herself for being this way.
Surprisingly it was different as a teacher. She knew what to talk about. Education. Simple and straightforward.
The oven beeped, signaling that her chicken was done. Breaking out of her cocoon, the young woman made her way to the kitchen to retrieve her meal.
It was a large pan covered with vegetables and chicken. Lucas always told her she cooked way too much but it was out of habit. Plating her food she sat at her dining table, staring at the empty seats before her. With a gloomy gaze, memories from yesterday played before her eyes. The happy time she had when her boys were over.
A deep sigh passed Lily's lips as she picked up her plate. She couldn't stand sitting at this table alone. Eating in the living room would be a better choice.
Ding Dong~
Liliana was startled to hear the doorbell, setting her plate on the table. Who could that be? Peeking at the grandfather clock she made her way to the door. Was it another neighbor bringing over another casserole dish?
Diiiiing Dong~
Lily rolled her eyes at how insistent this individual was. Opening her front door, shock hit her like a freight train. Her eyes went wide as his name tumbled out of her mouth.
"Nick?"
The blonde smiled giving her an up nod "Sup Lily."
"What, what are you doing here?" She questioned giving him a once over. He looked dressed for the gym.
Nick snorted as if that was a stupid question, "I did say I was going to come over every night to eat."
Lily looked dumbfounded, he was serious?! Again she should have known with Nick, he never jokes about food.
An awkward minute went by as Nick slowly rocked on his heel, "Soooo... are you going to let me in?"
"Oh sorry sorry." She sputtered opening the door as he slipped by. He smelt of cologne. Do people normally wear cologne before going to the gym? "Are you coming from the gym or going after you eat?" Lily questioned following him into the kitchen. She grabbed a plate from her dish rack, giving him a hefty portion.
He hummed leaning on the counter, "Oh decided not to go last minute. Thought I'd come by and keep you company." His gaze moved to her dining table where her lone plate was. "This house is pretty big for one person."
