Zayn had been out of the house before anything happened, but he had known about Nialls plan in advance. So he wasn't feeling all too great about himself. And against his common sense, he knew what he needed. So he found himself standing inside a bar, the same one je had gone to last time. David wasn't there this time. As a matter of fact, the only patron was a young girl who had yet to have a drink. She was sober where she sat, pen in hand and her notebook open on the counter in front of her.
"A round of the cheapest shots you got." Zayn called to the bartender. Then he turned to the girl. "And get her another of whatever she's drinking, she looks painfully sober."
The girl shut the pen inside the notebook. "Unless you're Matthew Cooper, I'm not interested."
Zayn had picked up the drink the bartender handed him, but when the girl said that, he set it back down.
"Did you get stood up?" He asked. He was genuinely curious. Maybe hearing about someone else's miserable love life would make him feel a bit better about his own.
"If you aren't Matthew Cooper then yeah. But it was just a blind date, Not really important." She admitted, and the fact that she had never met the guy made Zayn feel a little bit worse, and he almost took a drink of his alcohol, but he decided a bit of intelligent conversation couldn't hurt. It wasn't like he would be able to remember it come morning.
"It's still a jerk move to stand up a girl on a first date." He stated, taking a seat next to the girl. "What's your name?"
"Kendall. What happened to you that's got you drinking?" Kendall turned to face Zayn, relizing That he wasn't about to leave her alone.
"My boyfriend cheated on me." Zayn looked deep into his shot glass with an amused smile. "We were hardly even together for a day." It was bitterly ironic that this had happened a mere day after he had finally gotten the chance to date the boy.
"So you're gay then?" The girl sounded surprised, not offended or appalled. Zayn sort of shrugged.
"I don't really know. He was the only boy I ever liked, but I really loved him." He turned to Kendall and gave her a sad smile. "He never did love me though."
"You probably are bi and he just caught your eye. Do you know who he was cheating with?" Kendall was genuinely sympathetic to Zayn s cause. She had recognized him as soon as he had entered and was more than happy to let him rant. She wasn't the kind of girl who would spill his secrets to the press. She had often considered how stressful being famous must be, And honestly wondered how people could handle the stress. If Zayn needed to rant at a random girl he met at a bar, she would be there for him.
Zayn nodded and bitterly smiled. He was really trying to make himself feel better, but it wasn't working all that well. It didn't help that he had yet to drink any of the alcohol he had bought.
"It was one of my best mates. I've always known Niall loved him though. I really shouldn't be surprised." Zayn shrugged at her, not really knowing what else thwre was to be said or done at this point.
"And you said it was a jerk move to stand someone up on a blind date." Kendall raised an eyebrow. "I'd say you've got it worse."
Zayn shrugged and offered her a smile. "Yeah, I suppose so. And my love life is about to be published to the entire world. Liam s gonna kill me."
Kendall frowned. "How's it gonna end up published?"
Zayn stared at her for several seconds before responding, trying to decide if she was serious. Finally he sighed.
"You put it online, hundreds of retested and speculation, the press gets their hands on it and before you know it the entire world knows that Zayn Malik got cheated on by hos boyfriend." Zayn laid his head down on the table, honestly tired of all the drama. He wished things would just go back to normal, even if he disnt get to date Niall. It wasn't like it had changed anything anyways. Niall had always and always would love Liam and there was nothing Zayn could do to change that.
