"Sooo," Lance drawled, hands casually tucked into his pockets as he stared at Y/n. "Were you like born in a far, far galaxy, or something?"

"Nope," Y/n answered, kicking along a rock as she continued to focus on the Lion's energy. "Born and raised in sunny California with my dad and brothers."

"Is your whole family alien-like? Or just you? What kind of alien are you? What about your mom?" Hunk piped up, hand on chin in thought.

"Yes, except my dad. One of my older brothers actually has cotton-candy pink hair. The rest of us just have these markings underneath our eyes. We're actually Altean, the planet that Voltron originated from. And my mom... she..." the half-Altean paused, taking in a deep breath before putting on a brave face. "She passed when my twin and I were born. All that's left of her is stories from my dad and brothers and a necklace." The pendant seemed to thrum softly at the mention, the h/c haired girl electing to ignore it in favour of locating their Lion.

"I'm sorry," Shiro murmured, placing a comforting hand on the teen's shoulder.

"S'alright, but thanks. Besides, I think we're here."

The team glanced down at an ominous cave, Keith gasping at the energy it emitted. "We're definitely here alright..."

As the six slid down, ancient markings akin to the photographs in Keith's shack lined the walls, each telling a tale of the Blue Lion and its feats. Y/n swiped the layers of dust and debris off the carvings as she admired what had finally been a sign of Voltron. It only took seventeen years to catch a hint of the damn thing.

"What are these?" Shiro said, fascination filling the air.

"These are the lion carvings I was telling you about. They're everywhere around here."

Lance approached a carving, brushing off the film of dirt and exclaiming as the pictures lit up with a fluorescent blue.

"They've never done that before..."

Before anyone could react, sigils formed from underneath the team's feet, crumbling into a waterslide as the six descended with cries into a shallow pond. Y/n hissed as her tailbone collided with someone's spine, a wounded yelp coming from below her.

Scrambling off of her victim, she panicked. "Shit! I–" Mullet head. Y/n cleared her throat, lending a hand to the teen as she glanced away. "My bad, my bad," she grumbled.

"Thanks," Keith said, gratefully taking his hand in hers. "Why wont you talk to me?" he muttered at a pitch low enough just for the two of them.

"I dunno if you've noticed, Keith, but I kinda have more important things on my hands right now."

Y/n snatched her hand out of the boy's, ignoring the pit in her stomach. She wouldn't be doing this again; she didn't have time for this again. Wringing her hair out as she approached the massive, blue force field, the team lapsed into awe, jaws dropped and eyes wide.

"Is this is? Is this the Voltron?" Pidge uttered, as puzzled as the rest of the team.

"One part of Voltron. One down, five to go," Y/n reiterated, crossing her arms and beaming up at the giant, mechanical lion. Blue seemed to purr at the half-Altean in recognition, delving deep into her mind in a warm greeting. 'Hey, girl,' she mentally communicated, the smile on her face never seeming to waver.

"This is what's been causing all this crazy energy out here," Keith said, approaching the barrier with a tentative look. "I wonder how we get through this?"

With an all-knowing grin, Lance raised his knuckles to the barrier. "Maybe you just have to knock."

As the teen knocked on the force field with a smile, Blue's defences dissipated, the ground below it emitting a bright blue light as images of Voltron flooded the team's heads. Six, mighty lions melding together to form the universe's mightiest defender. It was... beautiful. Everyone gasped, stunned by Voltron's power and presence.
