They were still reeling from what the O'Hara's had told them. Sierra had come back to Matt's house to have a sleepover with Tyler. They were playing in the yard as Matt and the others sat around the fire. The girls drank wine while Matt and Shaun split a 12 pack.

"Matt, I'm so sorry." Shannon said. She had apologized to him about ten times since they left her parents house.

"Shan, I told you. There is nothing you could have done. You didn't know. I can't even be mad at your parents. They were doing what they thought had to be done, what was told to them by the ones that came before them. My own parents never even told me..." He explained.

Casey remained quiet. She didn't agree with the "things must play out like they are meant to." No, no way. If you know someone is in danger you help them, you warn them. She vowed that she would never adhere to those rules.

Casey was in a tough spot here. Shannon had just started to accept her and she didn't want to say anything bad about her parents. Her family would be alive if the O'Hara's had warned her. There was a good chance Shannon would agree with her, but she wasn't going to take that chance. Besides, she was doing a good job of cursing her parents all by herself.

"I still can't believe my parents are involved in this too." Shaun said. "I mean, I know we're not super close, but a warning would have been nice."
"Did you talk to them yet?" Shannon asked him.
"Nah, I'll wait til after this is over, assuming I live through it."

"My parents too." Matt added. "All this danger we are in is because people are after their grandson, and they never said a word. Amy could be alive if they had."
Casey took his hand in hers. "Yeah but Matt, they paid with their lives."
"Yeah, so did Amy." He said, sipping his beer. "And so did Bill." Shaun added.

It was strange to even talk about. If Matt's parents HAD warned him and that warning saved Amy, there would be no Casey in the picture, which seemed impossible now with the bond that she and Matt now shared.

"So let me see if I got this right." Shaun said. "Tyler's birth was predicted over a hundred years ago, maybe more. Somehow, these elders who are apparently psychic, knew he would be born here, to you and Amy, AND they knew we would find each other and all become close friends?"

"That about sums it up." Casey said, before adding, "I think."
"Yeah." Matt added. "I think you got it."
"That's some crazy shit." Shaun replied.

Matt looked over at Tyler who was playing with Sierra. He had no idea how special he was or what people were doing to protect him. Why was his son so important? People were dying so he could live, it was hard to fathom. He couldn't help but think of the conversation they would have one day about all of this. How would his grown son deal with it?

It was getting late so they decided to go in. Matt put the kids to bed. Tyler and Sierra laid side by side in his little bed, covers pulled up to their chins.
"Dad, can you read us a story?" Tyler asked.
Sierra looked on hopefully.
"Sure. What book?

Tyler pointed to his bookcase. Matt walked over, but before he could grab the one he pointed at, it slid off of the shelf and slowly floated through the air. Matt couldn't believe what he was seeing. He looked back at Tyler, whose little finger was pointed outward towards the book as it floated to him. It hovered over him for a second before falling into his lap.

Sierra started laughing, which prompted Tyler to laugh along with her.
"You've done this before?" Matt asked him.
"He does it all the time at my house." Sierra said. "It's soooo funny, my mom and dad make him do it sometimes."

So Ben and Mary have been teaching him how to use his newfound telekinesis. Guess I should be grateful, Matt thought to himself.
"Did I do something wrong, dad?" Tyler asked as the smile faded from his face.
"No, buddy. Not at all. It's very cool." He told him.

Matt walked over and sat on the side of the bed. So this was another of Tyler's "gifts." He had to come to grips with the idea that there could be more coming. He never would have guessed telekinesis. He couldn't help but think how cool it was, but also scared about what else he could do.

"I just want you to be careful who you do those things in front of, okay?"
Tyler nodded. "Can I do them in front of Sierra?"
Matt smiled. "Of course. And me, and the gang, and Sierra's mom and dad. They're all okay."
"Ok dad."
"It's like a secret." Sierra said.

"Exactly." Matt told her.
He read them their favorite Disney book, and before he was finished they were both sleeping. He went down the hall to Casey's room but found it empty.

When he got to his own bedroom he found her there, laying in his bed, flipping through the Book of the Damned.
"Little bedtime reading?"
"Stuff in here is disturbing." She said.

He took the book from her and put it on the floor.
"So what do I owe this honor of having you in my bed?" He asked with a smirk.
"Guess you're just lucky." She replied.
"I was hoping to GET lucky." He joked.
"Oh really?" Casey said with a laugh. She climbed on top of him and straddled him. She leaned in and kissed him softly. "Maybe you will." She whispered in his ear.

He kissed her harder, every time they were close it was hard to pull away. Casey felt it too, since the first day they met.
"Hey." He said. Catching his breath.
"Hey what?" She asked, as she continued to kiss his neck.

He laughed softly as he pulled away. She smiled.
"What?" She asked.
"I got to tell you something." He said.
She composed herself to hear what he had to say.

"Jesus, you drive me crazy." He told her as he got distracted by her blue eyes. "So I was reading the kids a bedtime story and Tyler picked out the book. You want to know HOW he picked out the book?" Matt asked.
"How'd he pick out the book?" She asked, unenthusiastically.

"Well, he pointed at it, and made it float through the air until it got all the way to him and fell in his lap."
Casey's mouth dropped open. She laughed. "Are you kidding?"
"No, I'm not kidding. It just happened." He said.

"That's crazy. I wonder what else he can do?" She thought.
"I guess we'll just have to wait and see."
She leaned in and kissed him again. "Are the kids sleeping?" She asked, whispering into his ear.

"Yes they are."
"Well then, shut the door." She said, with a mischievous smile.
He playfully threw her off of him and onto the bed and quickly got up and closed the door before joining her.
It could very well be their last night together.
