I s a b e l l a

New year, new me, right?

Wrong.

Senior year and I'm still the same dweeb as I was in freshman year. Some of you guys may think, "You call yourself a dweeb?" Well if you were me, you'd be used to it by now. I'm not sure why I get picked on, but I do.

I'm about 5'4", have long brown hair that I usually keep up in a ponytail, and have hazel eyes. My wardrobe? Well, I usually like to wear anything that's comfy. Mostly leggings and t-shirts. And I always wear my black rimmed glasses.

Today, I wore a pair of black leggings and a loose fitted t-shirt. I usually tried to avoid wearing tight shirts. I then threw my hair into a ponytail and grabbed my glasses.

I went downstairs to see my parents had already left for work. I grabbed a granola bar and sat on the kitchen counter waiting for my best friend, Nicole Richman.

She was about 5'2" and had black long hair that she loved to keep down. She wore anything she thought was cute, but she also loved to dress comfortably. We were the best of friends ever since we were little.

I threw out my wrapper for my granola bar right as she pulled into my driveway. I grabbed my backpack then locked the door as I strolled over to Nicole's car. She had a white Lexus that was absolutely gorgeous. I jumped in and was great ed my Nicole.

"Hey, Bella! Ready?"

"As ready as I'll ever be."

We took off to school which was only 10 minutes away. When we pulled up, most people were already there and in their groups all around the school. Nicole and I got out and went over to where Nicole's boyfriend of 3 months was.

"Hi, Chris." I waved.

"Hey what's up, Bella?"

"Not much. Actually,"

I was about to keep talking when I realized nobody was listening since Nicole and Chris were in there little love bubble. Cicole was a ship around school along with Bominic. Most people shipped Bominic since they didn't know Nicole or Chris, but they were well supported by their friends.

Chris was a 5'11" and had black shaggy hair. He was on the baseball team and was one of the co-captains. He and Nicole met in Sophmore year, became great friends, then he started to hang out with us, and just over the summer, he asked Nicole out. He's a sweet and smart guy who was very manly.

I decided to leave the lovebirds alone so I went to find my locker and get my schedule. I went to my locker and began to put away my things. When i finished, i realized i still had about 10 minutes until class started. I roamed around the halls towards my homeroom class. About 5 minutes before the bell rang, there was announcement saying that there was a senior assembly that was manditory. So I headed back to the gym.

When i got there, there were a few people sitting in the bleachers. I strolled in and plopped down on the closest bleacher. I just sat there plating with the strings on my backpack, then there was an loud boom of laughter and deep voices.

I looked up and saw Dominic and Brittney with their posse.

Dominic was 6'4" had blonde hair, and was the captain of the football team, which means that he is one of the most popular kids at school. He wore jeans and his letterman's jacket most of the time.

Brittney was 5'8" and has blonde broken hair. She liked to wear short clothes. She wasn't exactly classy. (NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE NAMED BRITTNEY.)

They walked past me, but of course they had to stop and squish my self esteem a little before they left.

"Hey, nerd. How was your summer? Full of homework?"

"Dweeb! Thank gosh your here, I'm gonna need you to do my homework soon."

"You came back?"

And stuff like that. I was used to it, but it still hurt a little. Just one more year and I could get away from it.

After they left, Nicole and Chris walked in. They sat next to me and then the assembly started.

"Welcome back, seniors! It's a very special year for all of you guys and I know you are all very excited,"

"This year, we decided to begin the year a little differently. We are hosting a manditory camping trip. It'll be no cost, but you must provide your own gear. You'll get a list of everything you'll need in homeroom after this, and then tomorrow we will discuss who your partner will be for the trip, since the trip is about working with new people. So please, give your parents all the handouts and let them know that this trip will be on Monday and we'll be there until Sunday. Thank you, you are now dismissed."

Everyone was hyped about this trip, but I was slightly worried. I looked at Chris are tend Nicole and they looked a little excited.

"What do you think about this, Nikki?"

"Hmm... well at first it seemed kinda odd, but I think it's about great idea!"

Chris added, "it's a good way to start the year so that everyone could possible make new friends."

I took in their words. Maybe they're right.

I went to homeroom, which I had with Nicole, and we got the handout. You needed a sleeping bag, clothes that you don't mind getting muddy, sunblock, durable shoes, a tent for every 2 people, and a water bottle.

Seemed easy enough. We continued the day like any other, but since it was the first day, we just went around introducing ourselves and then had free time.

After 3 periods, it was lunch and I was starving. I got school lunch and then went to a corner table. Nicole and Chris joined me and then a couple of Chris's baseball friends joined also.

Chris was popular, but he was very modest. He didn't like to draw attention to himself so he usually sat with us. His friends were also really down to earth and didn't seem to mind that I was the dork of the school.

Lunch passed with mindless chatter and then we all headed to our last period of the day.

Once school ended, I went to the parking lot and waited for Nicole. She drove me home and when I went inside, my parents were there, dressed in their after work clothes. I showed them all the paperwork and told them we are leaving Monday and whatnot.

My mom said, "that'll be so much fun, sweetie!"

My dad said, "be safe, don't touch poison ivy."

I giggled at them.

Maybe this trip won't be so bad.
