VALERIE AND Steve now use the claw parts of the hammers in their hands to take the nails of the plywood. "I mean, what exactly are we supposed to be looking for in this shithole?" Steve glanced at Val then over at Nancy who's standing with Dustin and Robin.
"We're not sure." Val sighs. "We just know this house is important to Vecna." Nancy added. "Because Max saw it in Vecna's red soup mind world?" Steve asked and Valerie looks over at him with a scrunched up face.
"Basically." She says anyway, glancing back as she took off one more nail with the claw of her hammer. "Great." Steve takes off some more on his side. "Maybe it holds a clue to where Vecna is. Why he's back. Why he killed the Creels. And how to stop him before he comes back for Max." Valerie reasons, glancing over at the redheaded girl. "We don't think he's in here, do we?" Lucas asked them.
"Guess we'll find out." Max says and Steve looks over at Val. "Ready?" He asked and she just nods quickly. They let go of the wood and it lands onto the front porch with a loud thud. Val reached out and tried to open the door only to find it locked. "Should I knock, see if anybody's home?" Steve asked them.
"No need." Val lookee over at Robin who'd spoken up, holding a brick in hand. "I found a key." She said and Valerie glances at Steve, furrowing her brows. "Then by all means." Val stepped out of the way, bowing a bit before joining Nancy and Dustin's side.
Steve backs up to Lucas and Max as Robin threw the brick through the window. "You're so badass, Robbie." Val says as she went over to the door, reaching inside. "Keep it in your pants, Smith." Steve says and she rolls her eyes as she opened up the door.
Her and Steve head inside first, Val opening up a flashlight as the others walk in after them. Lucas walks over to the right side of them, tugging onto the string of a lamp. "Looks like someone forgot to pay their electric bill." He says. Dustin holds up a flashlight, switching it on as did the others walking in. "Where'd everyone get those?" Steve asked.
Dustin looks at his flashlight then up at him. "Do you need to be told everything? You're not a child." He says and Steve looks at him with an annoyed look. "Thank you." He says and Val rolls her eyes, walking over to where Robin and Nancy were as Dustin told Steve where to find a flashlight in his backpack.
"They just left everything." Nancy says as they look around the longe area. "I guess a triple homicide isn't good for resale value." Robin tells him and Val hums in agreement, glancing all around. "Hey guys." Max calls out making Val look over quickly to see the redhead flashing her light on a grandfather clock. "You all see that, right?" She asked them.
"Yeah." The boys answer as they all gather around her. "Is this what you saw? In your visions?" Nancy asked her, looking at the younger. "I mean, it's... just a clock. Right?" Robin glanced at Max. She walked over and swiped her hand on the glass over the face of the clock. "Like a normal old clock." She looked at the others behind her.
"Why is this wizard obsessed with clocks? Maybe he's, like, a clockmaker or something?" Steve said and Val looks at him with a confused stare. "I think you cracked the case, Steve." Dustin says, amused as Steve looks at him, looking offended. "All I know is the answers are here. Somewhere." Nancy looks around then at them. "Okay, everyone stay in groups of two, except Robin, Val and I. Come on, upstairs." Nancy nods up the stairs.
Robin saluted the girl as Val nods, finding Robin's hand quickly before they head upstairs while Max told Lucas to go with her meaning Steve was stuck with Dustin. And for some reason, he was not exactly fine with it because he let out a sigh at the realization.
As they were searching a room, Val looked over at Robin and saw her girlfriend looking at cobwebs with a grimace on her face. "Hey Rob?" She looks over and Robin turns to face her. "Yeah, Val?" She smiles.
"Something's been kind of bugging me for a while..." She said quietly, glancing down as Nancy glanced between them and decided to look around in another room to give them some space. "Yeah?" Robin says quietly back and Val glanced up at her. "Did... you have a thing for Vickie?" She asked her.
"Vickie?" Robin's brows furrow and Val nods softly. "I--I see you guys together a lot and--" "what? Val, no. She's just a friend and besides she has a boyfriend, she like talks about him all the time and I talk about you all the time, well, except I kind of made up a boy name and pretended you were my boyfriend." She says and Valerie's cheeks heat up.
"Sorry." She mumbles and Robin grabs her hands. "No, I get it... I--I get a little worried sometimes too, because you and Riley spend so much time together." She explains and Val looks down. "Well... I love you," she interlocks their fingers. "You don't have to worry about anyone else coming between us." She stepped closer and glanced up at Robin.
"You don't have to either... I kind of prefer pretty and cute cheerleaders." Robin's face turns red and Val smiled widely. "And I prefer nerdy and cute band kids." She steps closer and Robin chuckles, raising both hands to either sides of Val's face before connecting their lips into a soft kiss. Val kissed back with her arms around Robin's waist.
She pulls back, smiling as she rested her face into the crook of Robin's neck. "Let's keep searching the house." She mumbles, pulling back and grabbing Robin's hand to interlock their fingers together once more. "Okay." Robin follows with a small smile.
