IT WASN'T so long after that they gave up, Dustin, Erica and Steve decided to sleep but Valerie couldn't, she was up on the top of the room, tapping her foot gently and going through her purse when Robin came up.
"Hey..." She whispers, climbing up and coming to sit next to Valerie. "Hey." Valerie smiles faintly, looking down. "Do you want some gum?" She raised it to the girl who chuckles. "Sure." Robin takes the gum, glancing at Valerie once before she looked away, looking up.
"Wanna brainstorm some ideas to get out of here?" Robin says and Valerie nods before she began putting her stuff back into her purse. "I think... the only best bet is seeing what's on the other side of the red wall, it obviously leads to somewhere, and maybe there, we can find a keycard. And boom, that'll be our ticket out of here." She says and Robin smiles.
"You're smart, you know... I always thought you were just... a snob." She says and Valerie looks at her. "Really?" She says kind of quietly and Robin sighs. "Back when you were cool," Robin looks at her and Valerie squints her eyes.
"Saying I'm not cool anymore?" She asked and Robin chuckles. "Uh... you're just... not pretending anymore. And I like it..." She says, then she looked away, biting the inside of her cheek as Valerie stares at her, her cheeks turning red before she looks away.
"Oh." She chuckles. "Uh, y-yeah. There were a lot of things I had to do to be considered... popular, I guess. Straightening my hair, wearing the best clothes, wearing make up... and dating guys I didn't ever like." She says and Robin glanced at her. "You had like four boyfriends since middle school... you didn't like any of them?" She says and Valerie shook her head.
"I-I just don't like... boys. You know?" She looks at Robin who glanced up, looking at the wall. "Yeah? What, you like men?" She jokes, chuckling and Valerie just stared at her before looking away. "Anyways, uh... I mean, there could be another way to get out, but it sounds dumb..." Valerie quickly changed the topic and quickly adjusted her hair before she slings her purse back over her head, onto her shoulder. "What's the idea?" Robin asked.
"Try to reach someone on Dustin's radio."
"Yeah, someone could be in range."
Sometime after, Robin went down to the room and said she wanted to try and get some rest, but Valerie stayed up on the roof of the room, sighing. She flinched when Steve peaked out, rubbing his eyes. "What were you two talking about?" He whispers with a wide grin and Valerie rolls her eyes, looking away.
"Trying to find a way out of here..." She simply says and Steve comes out of the room, sitting down on the opposite side of her. "Yeah? What are your ideas so far?" He asked and Valerie shrugs before telling him.
Eventually during the night, they climbed back down to the room and sat side by side against one side of the room. Valerie yawned suddenly and leaned towards Steve but stopped herself. "You should get some sleep too, Val." Steve tells her and she nods softly.
She laid down and rested her head onto his lap, catching him off guard. He doesn't say anything however, just reached his hand down, resting it onto her shoulder as she fell asleep pretty easily. Steve were one of the few people she felt the most comfortable around, and safest.
And just then, on the other side of the room, Robin woke up and spotted them pretty quickly. Valerie resting on Steve's lap, his hand on her shoulder. She merely flipped over and stared at the wall before trying to sleep again.
When Dustin woke up, he looked at Steve with a wide smile and pointed back and forth between him and Valerie as Steve just raised his finger to his mouth to make sure he doesn't say anything. Dustin just snorts softly, climbing up to the roof of the room, his supercomm in hand.
Erica woke up eventually too, stretching before she wanders around the room. Then she looked at Steve and Valerie, standing close to them. "What?" Steve whispers and Erica points. "Are you two dating?" She asked and Steve scoffs. "No..." He says and Erica smirks.
"But you like her. Otherwise, she wouldn't be sleeping on your lap." She says and the nineteen year old scoffs yet again. "N-No..." He denied it again and she just rolls her eyes. "Mm-hmm... You want me to take over? Your leg must be getting pretty tired." She says and he shook his head. "No... my leg's fine." He says and she crossed her arms, smiling.
"And yet, you still say no..." She says quietly, walking away. Steve just rolled his eyes before looking down at the sleeping girl. Truth be told, it was true. But he tried so hard not to, especially since she doesn't like guys and she only thinks of him as her friend. The only reason why he still liked her had to be how much of a connection they made last year, how close they became since then. It kind of sucked.
Robin had heard all of that, she sat up then and leaned against the wall as she rubs her eyes, yawning softly. Just then, Valerie woke up, glancing around and then sighing softly. "I was hoping it was some weird twisted dream..." She whispers, then glanced at Robin immediately, sending her a wide smile.
Robin smiled back faintly before looking away, hugging her arms to herself as Valerie looks at Steve. "Sorry..." She rubs her eyes now and Steve waved his hand. "It's... it's fine... Did you have a good rest?" He then asked her.
She nods, "I'm gonna dig through my purse and see if I still have that granola bar... Wanna share?" She says and he grimaced. "No thanks..." He got up and she chuckled.
