Serena woke up again, but this time by the entrance of the cave. She must of fell asleep there. She got up and looked into the forest. It stopped raining and the sun was almost up. Serena looked behind her seeing Ash asleep, but he was sleeping near Misty. Another striking pain came though into her heart. She put her hand on her blue ribbon, the one Ash gave her and she turned back and went into the forest.

It was humid from the rain. She looked at her map, still trying to fight back tears, and saw where she was. The route was just to the left. She headed back to the cave and saw that everyone was up now. Ash was standing there at the entrance looking out into the forest. Serena came towards him about to tell him where they need to go to get back to the Pokemon Center, but then Misty poked his shoulder and Ash turned around. Serena hid behind a tree poking out here head a little bit to see and listened.

"Ash, I was thinking, since you defeated the Pokemon League, then why not head back to Kanto?" Misty said giving a smile.

"Um, sure I guess, but before that I want to hang a round a while." Ash said putting his hand behind his head.

"Oh, come on, my plane is going to leave tomorrow and I want you to come back with me back to Kanto!" Misty handed Ash something that was yellow and small. It was a ticket.

Serena felt her heart beating faster as she waited for Ash's response.

"Well I guess I could-" Ash was interrupted by Misty before he could say much more about the plane trip.

"Great! Meet me in Lumious City tomorrow at noon if you want to come back home!" Misty grabbed her bag and ran out of the cave and went on the path she was originally going on.

"Wait!" Ash reached his hand out to call for Misty, but he put it back down. "I guess... I guess I'm heading back to Kanto." He said this in a confused way. He headed back in and grabbed his bag.

Serena felt tears. She tried to hold them back, but she couldn't. 'Is he really heading back to Kanto?' Her thoughts this time intended to ask these questions and put them in the front of her mind to help her think it for the rest of the day. Serena felt her tears that kept falling down to the ground. She sat down and rested her head against the tree crying.

"Serena?" Ash asked now hearing the crying behind a tree.

Serena jumped up and ran, tears falling to the ground behind her. She ran far into the forest until eventually she ran out of breath. She sat down against a tree again and looked back to see if Ash followed. She didn't see him. She cried there, not knowing how long she was there or how far away from the cave. Sometimes she forgot why she was crying but her mind kept reminding her. She heard something in the bushes but she didn't care she watched the bush moved until a hat poked out. It was red and white. For a second she thought it was Ash, but then Calem's head popped out. Calem stepped out of the bush and came over to Serena.

"Why are you crying?" He asked In a friendly tone trying not to sound rude.

Serena didn't answer.

"Do you need help getting back up?" He held out his hand.

Ash saw Serena and Calem and walked over, but then stopped.

Serena looked up. The scene reminded her of when Ash found her with her knee hurt. She took the hand and fell onto Calem like she did, Ash. She got up and wiped her tears.

"You, ok now?" Calem asked concerned.

"Yeah, thanks." Serena replied even though he didn't really even do anything.

Ash watched and an image of the scene at Summer Camp came into his head. He felt almost angry when Serena fell hugged Calem the way she did to him, but he stood back and watched. They were talking. Ash decided to finally show himself, but then the ground shook. Pebbles were thrown up in the air and trees fell. Serena screamed as the earth cracked in front of her. Then cracks started to form from under her until it became a full circle around her. The platform fell, along with Serena. Ash took action as he jumped to the side of the cliff and grabbed her hand. It was cold and soft. Comforting in a way. He tried to pull her up, Calem helping by pulling Ash's feet. Serena's hand started to slip and Ash screamed her name, but it was too late. Her hand slipped and she fell into the dark pit. He heard her scream and then silence followed.

"Serena!" Ash yelled, his voice echoing through the dark hole. The shaking stopped and the world was still again.

"We got to get down there!" Ash hurriedly got out a pokeball and threw it. A Pokemon came out. It was large and looked like it had flames all over its wings and its talons dug into the fresh soil. "Talonflame help us get down there please!" Ash pointed to the hole that seemed to go down endlessly, but Ash hoped it was shallow. Talonflame nodded and knelt down so Ash could climb on it.

"Please, let me come!" Calem stood there in front of the Talonflame begging to go. Ash put out his hand and Calem took it. Ash pulled him up and Calem sat behind him.

"Go, Talonflame!"

The flying type Pokemon swooped down into the dark hole. Talonflame kept flying down, feeling nothing from below. It took a while till the Pokemon found a place to land. When Talonflame touched ground, he landed and knelt down for Ash and Calem to get off. The place was full of water and mud.

Ash and Calem got off hastily and started to yell for Serena. "Serena! Serena!" No one answered.

Calem started to wonder "Wouldn't... wouldn't , Serena not be able to make it? This hole goes really far down, do you think she-"

"No." Ash responded with a flat tone and cut off Calem's sentence.

Ash saw something at the side of his eye and he ran to the corner of the hole. It was dark so he told Talonflame to use Flame Charge, but to not fly into anything. The Pokemon used the move and it lit up the dark pit. There was no one in it, but there was a tunnel. Big enough for almost any man to fit through. "Calem look!" Ash pointed to the tunnel and they decided to go through it and to see where it led to. They went in and followed the tunnel with Talonflame being the light source.

The tunnel was full of soft dirt and it was moist. "Someone must of just made this."Calem said feeling the walls.

Ash stopped in his tracks seeing something on the ground. He ran up to it and bent down. It was Serena's ribbon. The one he gave her. "Serena!?" He grabbed the ribbon as he started to yell her name again which echoed, carrying his voice off into the distance. No one else talked or responded. They kept walking until eventually they saw light. They kept going forward and they found themselves back up on the surface. Ash studied the ground for foot prints. Nothing was found. "I got to get back to Clemont and Bonnie! I need them to help out with finding Serena." Ash and Calem jumped on to the Talonflame and Ash commanded Talonflame to fly them to Lumious City, which was where Clemont and Bonnie were. The Pokemon fly at a very fast speed, they got to Lumiose City in just minutes.

"Thanks, Talonflame." He retrieved the pokeball and Calem and Ash ran into the city going to tell Clemont and Bonnie.

"Ash!" Someone yelled behind him.

He turned around hoping to find Serena, but he found Misty instead and was slightly disappointed

"Have you decided on coming with me back to Kanto, yet?" Misty asked smiling.

Ash turned back to Lumiose City and said, "No, not until I find Serena!" He ran off into the crowded city and avoided everyone even leaving Calem in his tracks until he reached the Pokemon Center. 'I've got to find her, I have to.' Ash thought.
