//Ari

As she grabs the knife she used for her French toast and walks over to TV, Ari went through her plan once more. She could do this.

The captive flicked the TV on and turned it up playing some uninteresting cartoon, the noise should be enough to stop Kai from hearing her go out through the door.

She quickly looked around the room, frowning when she didn't find what she was looking for, deciding that he probably had her red bag upstairs in his room.

She snuck up the stairs, being careful not to make any noise, she came to a bedroom and could hear a shower door slide close then water turn on from behind a door further in the room, laying right on this guys bed was her backpack, she hurried and grabbed it, speed walking down the stairs and sighing with relief when she chucked the worn bag over her back.

With that Ari hurried towards the door, not surprised when it is locked, she used her butter knife to pick it, and sighed when it successfully clicked open on her second try. The brunette could not wait to get out of here.

She quietly closed the door behind her and listened for a second, grinning when all she heard was the faint noise of running water coming from the shower.

He probably didn't expect her to pull something like this, probably expected her to be some towny who spends all their time shopping and walking the family dog. Boy was he wrong.

She jogged down the dirt driveway, this place looked pretty remote. The sun was very slowly setting and she was in some kind of woodland area with small clearings and paddocks every now and then, she didn't stop running when she came to a sharp corner, almost laughing with joy as she spotted another cottage looking place about 800 meters away.

She practically beamed when she caught sight of the Spanish looking stable right next to it, this was perfect.

She jogged over to the old building, slipping through the side door, thank god it wasn't locked. There seemed to be no-one but horses there, they were probably having dinner or something.

Ari walked down the long row of horses, they all seemed far more interested in their hay and feeds than an unusual girl walking down the laneway.

None of the horses caught her eye until she came across him. His mane wasn't braided up like the others and he didn't have a winter stable fleece on like the taller horses.

He was jet black with a tiny white star on his forehead, and unlike the others, he had his head over the stall looking at her rather than eating the fresh hay that had been clumsily stacked in the corner of his stall. He looked to be a quarter horse since he was only around 14-15 hands and was quite muscular. Ari bet he could run fast.

The dark brunette smiled and walked over to him "Hey bud" she said, smiling when he nickered at her. She softly reached her hand out and let him sniff her, he cautiously did so and then licked her hand, she laughed and reached her hand closer to him stroking his head. "You up for an adventure?" Ari said patting his fluffy face and grabbing his bridle from beside his stable door, it looked as if it hadn't been used in a while, maybe this horse wasn't a favourite like the rest of the horses here.

Ari opened the stall door which, strangely had about 3 different locks on it. She stepped inside and noticed on the wall there was a piece of wood with bold writing that said Laelaps, Ari laughed, no way! She had done an assignment in 5th grade on Laelaps, it was a Greek mythological dog that never failed to catch what it was hunting, funny how now the horse she was about to steal- wait sorry, borrow, was named after it.

She put the bridle over Laelaps head with no trouble and lead him out of the stall towards the tack at the other end of the stable, Laelaps happily following her.

Ari grabbed an expensive looking multi-purpose saddle and walked towards The fluffy horse, but he was not having it. He started walking backwards and pig-routing, The brunette sighed, maybe that's why he hasn't been ridden in a while. Well... time for plan B.

/////

Oh my lord this is how she's going to die, she brought Laelaps over to the mounting block and had decided she was just gonna go bareback. Growing up she used to have a family pony- ginger, and they hardly ever used the trashing saddle they got for 10 bucks at the market. So Ari did have some kind of practice, then again that was almost 10 years ago now.

Ari carefully laid over Laelaps back, testing to see if he would buck or something. He didn't, instead just standing there and looking out towards the open field behind the stable. Ari smiled and slipped her leg over him, sliding onto his back, he turned his head and sniffed at her shoes. This was going to be so fun.

///////

Ok this was totally not fun, Ari held onto Laelaps mane for dear life as he bolted through the fields, when he got to the Forrest he slowed down calmly to a walk, the brunette almost went over his head but managed to shimmy herself back upright. Ari's plan was to go through the forest till they found somewhere to stay the night.

/////

The sun was getting dangerously low by the time Ari and Laelaps found somewhere to stay, an old abandoned Barn, in a small opening in the forest. Ari slid off Laelaps back, hissing when her feet sent a flare of pain through her entire body momentarily. Her legs ached from gripping onto Laelaps slippery back, but nether the less, she had to admit it was kind of fun.

She grabbed Laelaps reins and led him towards the barn opening up the doors then closing them again. It was two stories, the bottom had hay randomly in heaps everywhere and the top had some furniture and what looks like blankets and a mattress, perfect.

Ari undid Laelaps bridle, he immediately went to scout out the area
his attention focusing on a pile of hay in the middle of the barn. Ari locked the barn doors and sat Laelaps bridle down on a haybale, then climbed her way up the old rickety ladder.

She wandered over to the mattress, it looked like this might of once been some kids cubby house once.

She used the blankets and pillows to make a very comfy looking bed, if she says so herself.

She dumped her bag next to her bed and got into her comfy nest, and soon she was drifting off to sleep to the sound of crickets and Laelaps munching on hay.
