It had been a few weeks after the events of the battle of retrieving the master emerald.

Y/n had fallen asleep shortly after waking up, falling asleep due to both pain and exhaustion. And Knuckles had carried him, Tails held Y/n's hand and Sonic stayed as close as possible.

Sonic was mumbling mindlessly while looking at Y/n. They didn't know what he was saying.
(But it was clear he seemed a bit distressed so they left it alone.) 

Thankfully; when they got to the house, (Which was still broken by the fight earlier that week.) they cleaned the couch off from any debris and laid him down and slowly, but carefully Maddie helped re-wrap his wounds. Sonic had grabbed a blanket from his room and laid it down on Y/n carefully. Knuckles helped lay his head down on the armrest of the couch and set a few pillows under his head.

Tails held his hand all throughout the day, scared to let go, (Scared that if he did then he would disappear again...) he sat on the floor and his tails slowly swayed when he heard each breath the wolf took. (He was alive; he was okay, and Tails smiled and silently chuckled as Knuckles looked at him with a type of jealous look as he looked at their combined hands)

Knuckles rolled his eyes as Sonic sat by the wolfs legs, gently and slowly wrapping his leg in bandages; just the way Maddie had taught him, and when he was done he laid Y/n's mangled hand gently on his own and slowly breathed in and out as he watched the wolfs chest rise and fall, following the slow but steady pace of his heart as it beats in a gentle rhythm.

Knuckles stood buy the armrest where Y/n head was placed and placed his own hand on Y/n's head and gently soothed him as he groaned every once and again in pain. Even when his legs hurt from standing so long he stayed like this and just kept easing Y/n's pain.

When they all fell asleep, (all besides Knuckles who was determined to stay awake just incase, but kept fading in and out-) Tom and Maddie left them all alone, they made sure to keep a respectable distance from the wolf. They had asked a few questions about him from Tails and they learned that the wolf had saved Sonic (on multiple occasions apparently) they had instantly felt fond of the little wolf and tried to make him as comfortable as possible.

Tom smiled fondly at his sleeping wife as she rested her head on his shoulder and lightly snored. They both sat against the couch and Tom slowly cradled Maddie's hand in his own and rubbed his thumb back and forth on the back of her hand. And as he slowly started to fall asleep he heard a small grunt and he turned his head to look at who made the sound.

It was the wolf, and he watched as the red one shot his head up in alarm and quickly comforted the wolf. Tom smiled at the two as the wolf finally settled back down as the red one pet a bit behind one of his ears slowly.

Tom chuckled again when the red one began to nod off again before shooting up once more when he caught himself about to fall asleep. Tom spoke up, catching the red one's attention,
