Falling for Snow

Chapter 26

Snow's POV

Today is the day Valentino will meet Nik at the base.

I'm in my office waiting for him to arrive. I've had the place bugged so I can listen in. I get a text from Nik saying he's arrived and I get the cameras ready.

I see Nikolai lead Valentino into his office and they sit down. He got stared at by everyone on the way in, it was quite funny. I start to listen in on them talking.

"So, Don what can I do for you?" Nik jokes. "You know what I want", Valentino says blankly. "Ah, yes a deal of peace between the mafia's", Nik says.

"Yes", is all Valentino replies with. Nik studies him and then speaks. "My boss, they think it's a good idea", Nik says. "They do?" Valentino asks, shocked.

"Yes and they have drawn up a contract", Nik says, sliding over the contract. Valentino looks over they contract with his brows furrowed.

"Do you have a pen?" Valentino asks. "Here", Nikolai passes him a pen. Valentino sighs but signs the contract and I grin.

I see Valentino studying Nikolai like Nik was just moments ago. They stare each other down and Nik smiles like a manic. "Nice doing business with you", he says, holding out his hand.

Valentino reluctantly shakes his hand and says "will I ever meet the Pakhan?". Nik smiles wider, "they would like to remain anonymous for now", he says mysteriously.

"Why?" Valentino questions. Nik's smile fades and turns into a scowl. "Not my business", he says and Valentino smirks. "Clearly your not that close", he says, smirking.

Nik smiles and leans forward "I assure you, we're close", he says smiling. Valentino smirk fell and was replaced with a look of confusion.

Valentino checks his watch and says "I have to go". He stands up and Nikolai does as well. "Okay I'll walk you out", he smiles. They walk out with a few stares and I stand up and leave my office.

I know Valentino is gone when Nik comes back to his office smiling. "Your boy toy is gone", he winks. "Haha very funny", I fake laugh.

He smirks and sits down in front of me. "I gather you heard everything?" He asks. I nod, not saying I saw everything too. "Yes, he sounded a little reluctant", I say and he nods.

"Yeah but the contract is signed", he smiles. "Yes that's true", I nod. "He asked about you, about how close we are", he winks. "Ah yes, i heard" I say thinking about it.

"Lilly's does he know, we're best friends", Nik smiles. I grin and say "yes we are". "Want to have get dinner?" He asks. "Only if I don't get shot", I joke.

"Good one", he laughs. We stand up and leave the base, with nods of respect from everyone. We get inside Nik's car and he drives us to a restaurant.

We go inside and they get us a table. We sit down and wait for a waiter. Two minutes later a girl comes over and takes our orders.

We finish our food then Nikolai starts to talk. "I'm definitely getting with that waitress", he smiles. I nod and stand up. He stands and he pays the bill while I go to the car and wait.

Ten minutes later he comes back with messy hair and an undone shirt. He slides into his seat and huffs. "That was shit", he says. "I couldn't even finish", he huffs, annoyed.

I laugh at his annoyed face. He glares at me and I laugh at him still. "Let's go", I say and he drives me to my penthouse.

I bud my goodbyes to Nik and thank him for dinner before leaving and going upstairs.
