1 year laterCara
We had officially been in California a year and to say that year had been chaotic was an understatement. Wayne had moved to California about three months after us and was a huge help when it came to raising will, he was the best uncle and babysitter we could have asked for.
Almost every weekend corroded coffin had booked gigs at local venues and their fan base had grown to a decent size. So when their record dropped, things exploded. Their first single was skyrocketing up the latest Hot 100. Eddie and they boys had spent the last three days on a press tour doing interviews. We missed him but we never missed an interview, mostly they were radio stations but today was the biggest one to date. MTV's Rock line. Where he was being answering questions from people who called in.
So Wayne had come over and we were sitting eagerly on the couch waiting for the show to start. When the shows theme song started Wayne jumps up and turns up the volume."Welcome to rock line. where you can talk to your favorite rock stars. I'm Martha Quinn and today I'm here with corroded coffins lead guitarist and lead singer. Eddie munson. Hey Eddie how are you doing today." The camera panned to Eddie. He looked nervous, wiping his hands on his Jean and adjusting how he was sitting.
"Dada!" Will pointed to the tv.
"Dada home?" He asked looking up at me.
"Daddy will be home later, buddy" I told him turning my attention back to the tv."First caller is from Orlando Florida. Hello Jim your on rockline."
"Hey Jim, it's Eddie. How are you?"
"I'm good. My question is It been a pretty chaotic year for you and your band. With your song "to the grave" is steadily climbing the charts. How do you feel about that?" Eddie laughed and wiped his hands again.
"We are pretty excited to say the least. We put a lot of work into this album and to have the first single from it be a hit, it's pretty great."
"You guys have built quite the fan base playin in the clubs. What's it like to go from basically unknown to where you are now?" The interviewer expanded on the guys question.
"Well when we moved from Indiana to California was a culture shock. We went from maybe 50 people at shows to a few hundred. And now going from a few hundred to thousands. So It's surreal."
"Next caller is from New York, hello Sarah your on rockline. What's your question for Eddie."
"Hi Eddie, my question is Unlike some rock bands You guys don't party to hard do you? Not to many stories of your guys trashing venues or hotels. Do you just not feel the need to be crazy or you think you guys haven't hit that peak yet."
Eddie laughed and rubbed his mouth."Oh well I was pretty wild In high school I think I got it all out of my system then, I still party just not any where near the extent some other rock bands do. I think I'm just to busy working, writing music And just life In General."
"Speaking of life in general. Your pretty unique in the rock life seeing how you are married is that correct? Your pretty young to be tied down. What's the story on that."
The interviewer asked and my heart jumped a bit. It was the first time o had ever been mentioned in any interview, but seeing his smile beam when I was brought up made warmth spread in my chest." No story really. I just met my girl before we came to California and When I had the choice to come to California I didn't want to do it with out her. So we got married. But she is awesome. she is pretty cool when it comes to this lifestyle. Very supportive. But I also don't Uh... entertain any groupies. My priorities are focused on my music and my family." He seemed to beam with pride while he answered.
