"Cyber bullying is no laughing matter. Sending a cruel message to someone online is just as hurtful as saying it to their faces,"Mrs. Blatt started. Most of the students weren't even listening.
"Now I'm not gonna name names, but the other day a mother called me, because her son was crying,"Blatt continued.
Max knew about what she was talking. It was Saturday and Eli's mom called her and Max came over to comfort Eli.
"After some kids online made fun of his facial deformity,"the counsellor said.
Every student knew she was talking about Eli, who looked down at the table uncomfortable. Under the table, Max put her hand on Eli's knee and squeezed it softly, making him slightly smile at her.
"If you're sick of getting bullied, my karate dojo is looking for some recruits,"Miguel chimed in.
"Yeah right. Hear that Eli? A little karate and you're gonna kick some asses,"Demitri mocked.
"One last thing ! While we're all looking forward for the halloween dance, let's make sure our costumes are culturally sensitive. For example instead of "sexy nurse", you could try "gender neutral hospital employee,"Counsellor Blatt said, making almost every student laugh at her.
"Like anyone is going to listen to that,"Max snickered.
"As what are you guys going anyway,"Max asked her friends. "I know Demitris already, because we have matching costumes."
"I don't know yet,"Eli answered.
"I wanna go as Deadpool, my Yaya and mom are making me a costume,"Miguel said.
"I'm excited to see it,"Max smiled.
**** It was the night of the halloween dance and Max was getting ready in her room.
"Tada. How do I look,"Max asked as she stepped into the living room.
"You look great,"Robby said to her smiling. "You're gonna have the best witch costume there."
