Carol squealed in the eerie night as Tommy H. threatened to throw her in the pool. Rock music played lightly to fill the silence among the small party which Jennifer found herself humming along too. The Callahan girl sat on the poolside with her jeans rolled up to her knees. Her shoes and socks sat beside her, letting her feet dangle in the water below her. Her brown hair fell over her shoulders as she stared up at the sky. One hand was behind her, keeping her from falling back. And the other was holding a fresh cold beer that she was casually sipping from. Her head swayed back in forth in the tipsy state, loving the way her mind was fogged and her emotions were bubbly.
"How many of those did you have?" Barb asked taking a seat next to her best friend. The red-head narrowed her eyes in concern seeing the giggly smile on Jennifer's lips that was rare, especially near Harrington.
Jennifer glanced at Barb her head falling onto her shoulder. "I don't know." She giggled holding up the beer can to read the label in the pool light. "I think two." Her words began to slur. Due to her foggy mind, she couldn't remember how much she had but Barb could tell it was way more than two drinks.
Barb tried to pull the beer can away but Jennifer groaned and moved the can out of her reach. Barb huffed, falling back beside Jennifer. "Jen, you had enough. Hand me the beer." Barb argued quietly.
"Let her drink!" Tommy shouted from across the pool with his arm slung over Carol's shoulder. "Callahan is way more fun this way." He smirked at the brunette who was gulping down the rest of her beer and Barb was too busy glaring at Tommy from across the pool to notice her friend drunk action.
Jennifer let out a sigh wiping her mouth dry of any drops of beer that was left on her mouth. Barb looked back at her friend and her eyes widened noticing the beer can now empty. The brunette tossed it aside and jolted up with a new energy buzzing through her.
"I need another." Jennifer drunkly declared aloud.
Carol grinned preferring Jennifer this way compared to the uptight sober she usually is. "Grab me one!" She shouted across the pool. Jennifer gave her a thumbs up and winked but Barb was quick to get up and lower her arm.
"I should get you home." Barb frowned.
Jennifer's head whirled to her best friend pressing her lips into a frown. "Noooo, you can't..." She pouted. Barb narrowed her eyes annoyed, wondering how she got stuck in this mess with no help from Nancy. "My dad thinks I'm studying in my room. He can't know I snuck out." Jennifer pressed a finger to her lip and shushed Barb loudly.
Tommy and Carol laughed while Barb frowned. She knew she couldn't bring home Jennifer in this state, especially if she is going to try to sneak in. But what other options did she have? "Stay here. I'm going to go get you some water." Barb muttered already exhausted from drunk Jennifer. Tommy and Carol booed the statement and Barb was instantly annoyed that she was seen as the 'debby-downer' for caring for her friends well-being.
Jennifer nodded and watch Barb walk towards the back door. Once Barb disappeared, Jennifer scanned the backyard for a sign of a full can of alcohol. To her luck, she saw one sitting on a pool chair alone. Happily, Jennifer practically skipped over to the can and opening it without thought. She took a few gulps before the backdoor slid opened.
"Hey! That's mine, Callahan!" Steve shouted annoyed walking over to Jennifer. He snatched the beer out of Jennifer's hands glaring at her from already drinking half of it, doing his best to hide his annoyance and admiration.
Being stripped away from her alcohol, Jennifer's lips pursed together into a pout and crossed her arms innocently. She looked at Steve desperate, "Pleassssse, Stevie. I will get you another." She whined mustering up the best pleading expression she could to Steve.
