Hawkins High School halls were filled with light chatter and laughter like every morning. The schools basketball team was dribbling a ball down the hallway to frolic their social status, one of the schools bully's knocked someones books over thinking he will earn more popularity from the dumb action, and a random couple was making out against some lockers that made everyone else feel uncomfortable.

So, it was just another typical high school.

Jennifer was walking onto school grounds wearing a blue sweater tucked into her loose jeans. Her hair was curled resting on her shoulders loosely. A bag hung from her shoulder as she hugged herself tightly for a sense of comfort before walking into school. She always hated school for the social-interaction concept.

Jennifer had friends. Many actually. So she didn't understand why she was pressured to socialize with others to have people like her.

Yet, she had to keep up the facade. Otherwise she would be seen as an outcast. An outsider.

Before the brunette teenager had a chance to enter the school, someone behind her called her name. Glancing over her shoulder a faint smile appeared on her lips seeing Nancy jogging up to her with her regular smile.

"Hey, did you ever finish Mr. Evans readings?" Nancy asked stepping inline with Jen as they walked into school together

Jennifer shook her head as she pulled the front door open and stepping into the busy hallway with her best friend beside her. "Haven't even started. You?" She asked glancing over at Nancy who was staring ahead down the hallway.

"I finished till next Monday. Can you help me with Tuesday's readings? I don't understand ancient literature." Nancy pouted glancing over at her friend walking beside her desperate for her assistance.

Jennifer laughed highly doubting her genius friend needed her help with anything academic. Nancy was always known to be the smartest out of the three friends yet she would constantly ask for help from her friends, to have an excuse to hang out with them more. But Barb and Jennifer acted clueless for Nancy's sake.

"Sure, I work at six but I'll be at your place tonight at four if that works for you?" Jennifer offered and Nancy grinned excitedly nodding in agreement.

"Did he call!?" Barb interrupted excitedly rushing up to the girls from behind. She just entered the school seconds ago and noticed her two friends walking in the opposite direction, yet she was eager to know if Steve called, after Nancy told her late last night that she was expecting his call.

Jennifer raised an eyebrow at Nancy shocked she hadn't heard about this before. Nancy kept walking with her cheeks getting all flustered from being caught. Barb met the girls' strides and giggled when seeing Nancy's blushed cheeks.

"Nancy, were you expecting a call from Stevie-boy and told Barb but not me?" Jennifer sarcastically asked, pressing a hand to her chest in pain.

"Will you two keep your voices down." Nancy shushed them flustered. Giving them both a glare but a smile was on her lips. Jennifer and Barb shared a look before both giggling of their ruthless teasing of the poor girl.

"Well?" Barb pressed on. "Did he?" She asked again giving Nancy a small nudge as they walked through the hallway.

Nancy let out a sigh. "I told you both. It's not like that." Jennifer narrowed her eyes on Nancy confused. From what Nancy has explained to Jen, the nerdy brunette took a liking towards the senior boy. Yet now she was playing coy. Nancy noticed Jen's judgemental stare and sighed. "Okay, I mean, yes he likes me. But not like that." Nancy explained.

Jennifer rolled her eyes and Barb grinned, following Nancy to her locker. They were both curious about Nancy's feelings towards the most popular boy in Hawkins High but in Jennifer's opinion, was also the biggest asshole.
