"A wand, a cauldron and a telescope? Can we really buy all of these in London, Hagrid?" Y/N asked Hagrid who sat opposite her. They were headed to London which apparently had shops where people could get cauldrons and whatnot. "Why of course! Why else would I be takin' yeh there?" Y/N just sighed in response. This would be Y/N's first trip to London, no, first trip outside of the orphanage.

"One pair of protective gloves. Dragon hide? Do they mean an actual dragon?" Y/N asked again with a perplexed look on her face. A dragon? First magic, now dragons? This was a lot to take in for 11 year old Y/N. "Well they don't mean feathers from a penguin do they!" Hagrid said with a huff. He clearly spoke louder than he meant to because a lady who sat near us started staring at Hagrid. Hagrid gave her a nod and a smile. Y/N smiled at that, she found him rather funny.
——
After getting of the train, they headed to a pub named "The Leaky Cauldron". Hagrid opened the door for Y/N to enter first before he walked in himself. The pub was bustling with people. Y/N looked around for a bit before the bartender spoke up, "Ah, Hagrid! You're back! The usual?"

Guessing Hagrid came here earlier before he picked me up.

"No thanks, Tom. I'm still on official Hogwarts business." Hagrid replied to the bartender. He pats Y/N's shoulders with his gigantic hand before continuing, "Jus' helpin' young Y/N here buy her school supplies like I helped Harry earlier this mornin'."

The bartender's eyes widened as he looks at Y/N, "Goodness me, it's Y/N Riddle."

It seems that the whole pub had heard what the bartender just said because what used to be a lively and noisy atmosphere was now a dead silent atmosphere. Well, it was not completely silent, Y/N swore she could hear her name being whispered around the pub. Y/n could see ladies in the corner whispering to each other while their eyes were still glued to her. It wasn't only these particular ladies who were whispering things that were probably about Y/N, it was the majority of the people inside the pub.

"Is that really the kin of You-Know-Who?"
"She looks a lot like her father."
"First Harry Potter, now Y/N Riddle? It's got to be the end of the world."
"She'll save us all if the day ever comes. She's destined for great things after all, no?"
"Who's to say she isn't going to kill us all right here right now?"

Y/N ignored the whispering and looked to the other side of the room where a man holds a cup of whatever in his hand as he stares at Y/N. The man and Y/N accidentally engage in eye-contact for a second which makes the man flinch in fear and spill his drink all over the table. Before Y/N could even process what just happened, the man got up and left screaming "HE'S BACK! HE'S BACK!"

Hagrid notices the clear distress painted on Y/N's face and takes action, "It's okay, kid. Just keep walking." Hagrid reassures Y/N and gives her a pat on her shoulder. Y/N has only known Hagrid for less than a day and yet she feels a sense of security and comfort around him. Y/N takes his advice and continues making her way through the pub with people still intensely gazing on her.

What are their problems? Why are they staring at me like that..

"Hagrid, why were they all staring at me like that? And why did that man seem scared of me?" Y/N asked Hagrid as they walked out of the pub's back door. How can one tell a child that their father is a monster, if not the spawn of the devil? Hagrid pretends he did not hear her and continues walking towards a brick wall.

"Hagrid, why were they scared of me?" Y/N persisted. This time she sounded more firm and demanding for an answer. Hagrid looked down at her and said, "I'm not sure I'm exactly the right person to tell you that, Y/N."

Hagrid then proceeded to tap on the brick wall five times with his umbrella. The bricks then started popping in and out of place until it revealed itself to be a magic gate. A gate to Diagon Alley.
