Y/N's train of thought was interrupted and she looks at the book in her hand that she had completely forgotten about. "Oh yeah sure, go ahead." Y/N says. She looks up from her book to look at the person who she just let in her compartment.

The girl had frizzy curly hair with bangs, her hair was wild but it wasn't untidy and she didn't look any older than Y/N did. She held a cat in her arms and her suitcases were placed down near her feet. Y/N was sure that she was taller than the other girl, maybe not by a lot — but Y/N was tall enough to reach the overhead compartment if she jumped on her tippy toes.

"Do you need help with those?" Y/N asked, pointing to the other girl's suitcases. She assumed that the girl wouldn't be able to put her luggages up top even if she jumped.

"Yes, please." She put down her cat on the seat opposite of Y/N. "Don't worry, he doesn't bite."

Y/N stood up from her seat and picked up one of her suitcases which was heavier than she thought. While she carried her suitcase to put it in the overhead compartment, she asked the girl, "What's her name — your cat?"

"Crookshanks — and she's a he." She corrected Y/N.
"My bad."
"It's okay. How about your owl, does it have a name?" She asked. She sat down, adjusting herself and Crookshanks so that she could pet him.

"Err.. To be honest, I haven't really had the time to think about it." Y/N admitted as she picked up the girl's second suitcase which was heavier than the former. She let out a grunt when she finally lifted it off the ground.

"Well, what about O/N? It looks like an O/N." The girl suggested.

What does this girl have in this luggage? Dumbbells?

Once she had successfully stored the second luggage, she wiped her sweat on her forehead with the back of her hand. She flopped back down on the long train seat, and let out a sigh of relaxation. She felt as if she had done a whole workout. "Though, I admit, that is a good name. I might just use it."

"Thanks for helping me with my things by the way. Granger, Hermione Granger." She says, putting her hand out to shake Y/N's hands.

"Y/N." Hermione just looked at her, waiting for her to state her last name. Y/N didn't want her to know that she was related to You-Know-Who, she thinks of all the reactions she got at Diagon Alley and deicded that she didn't want a repeat. She knew Hermione would find out sooner or later but she'd rather have a friend for a few hours than not at all. "Just Y/N."

"Just Y/N? You don't have a surname?"
"Nope."
"Hm. I feel like I've heard that name before, Y/N. Though, I don't remember where. Anyways, are you a first-year like me?"
"Yes, yes I am."
"Well, do you know which house you'll be put in? I heard they'll have you do a test, but I barely know any magic spells so it's rather unfair, isn't it? I did however learn all our set books by heart. I just hope that's enough to pass this test." She said, crossing her arms with a huff.

Hermione spoke very fast — and spoke a lot. Y/N was still processing what she had just said, it all happened so fast. Y/N and Hermione's head turned to face the compartment door as they heard a knock. The compartment slid door open to a boy with a round, chubby face and dark brown hair that almost appeared black. He had large front teeth, just like Hermione — though, his front teeth were larger and more obvious than Hermione's.

"Erm, sorry to bother. Have you seen a toad? Brown and has bumps all over his body? I seem to have lost him.." The boy said.
"Sorry no, we haven't." Y/N told the boy.
"Oh okay, thanks anyways." The boy said wearily, about to close the compartment door.
"Wait!" Hermione called, gaining the attention of the boy. "We'll help you find your toad."
