Chapter 3 ~ In The Crowd

Robin paced backstage. "Why'd I even invite her? She's not actually coming? Right?" Eddie laughed. "Why do want her here so much? I thought you hated her?" Eddie laughed. "Well turns out even though I'm horrible to her she still wants to talk to me. I guess I like being around her now she doesn't have douchebag friends". Eddie patter her shoulder and raised his eyebrows. Robin drank some water and prepared. All of a sudden she was pulled onto the small platform of a stage. A light blinded her eyes. She looked at the people. She panicked. Until she saw her. Nancy Wheeler. Nancy waved and smiled. "Oh my god". Robin accidentally slipped. The mic whistled.

Gareth counted them in and Heart Of Glass began to play. Robin faced her fear and sang. Nancy cheered and smiled. She really could sing. Nancy felt proud. Robin suddenly became a whole new person on stage. Eddie rocking out and watching her sing her heart out. Nancy blushed slightly when Robin winked. What the hell was that? The song ended with Robin bowing and turning to Gareth again. Cherry Bomb was next and Nancy couldn't help but feel excited. Robin performed for 30 minutes and the band left. They all walked back into the bar and they met with friends. Nancy sat on a stool sipping Coke. Robin walked up to her slightly embarrassed. "I didn't think you were actually coming". Nancy laughed. "What and miss that? Never". The girls laughed. "Want another drink? My treat?" Robin smirked. "I'm good". Nancy smiled. "You sure? I'm getting one anyway". Nancy gave in. "Can I have like a cherry soda?" Nancy asked. Robin nodded. "Gatorade and Cherry Soda. Thanks". Robin sat next to her. "You were awesome up there by the way". Robin blushed. "Really? I get tense before a gig". Nancy out a hand on Robins shoulder. "I'm serious. When's the next gig? I wanna come". Nancy grabbed the drink off the bar tender and sipped it.

"We have one next week". Robin smirked. Nancy nodded. "Noted. You should be proud that you have an amazing talent". Robin stared at her. "Why?" Nancy looked her in the eyes. "I mean the best musical ability I have is running around my room singing Toto. So I think you should really be confident". The girls laughed. "Africa your favourite song then?" Robin smirked. "Yeah". The pair nodded. Eddie ran over. "Hey sorry to interrupt but you ready to go?" Robin frowned. "I mean if you wanted to stay you can ride with me". Nancy piped in. "Uh yeah that would be awesome. You mind?" Robin asked. He leaned to her ear. "You owe me 10 bucks". Robin was confused. "Why?" Eddie laughed. "I bet Gareth that if you two hit it off I'd get 10 bucks. You owe me it because now I've gotta pay gas". The pair laughed.

"Robin? Be honest. What's your favourite song?" Nancy laughed. "Edge of Seventeen". Robin smirked. "Why?" Nancy nodded. "I don't know. I felt like you'd be more ABBA". The pair laughed. "What the girl in Hellfire? The one that performs Blondie in a rock band called Corroded Coffin?" The pair laughed so hard. Nancy checked her watch. "I need to be home by 11. You mind if we go?" Robin shook her head. They headed to the car and Robin sat down with her feet on the dashboard. "These aren't new don't worry". Robin laughed. Nancy began to drive as they giggled and truly enjoyed being near one another. "Ok so you can really sing but your a cheerleader?" Robin asked. "I mean I could but I haven't since I was a kid". Robin nodded.

"At least your not Tammy Thompson". Robin laughed. "Oh my god she sounds like a muppet". Nancy said. The girls erupted into laughter. "Like Kermit". Nancy smiled. "I was thinking more Miss Piggy". Robin spat out during laughs. She sang her best as miss piggy causing Nancy to almost crash her car. "Why weren't you and I friends before?" Nancy asked. "We were. When we were like kids. Me you and Barb". Robin stopped laughing. "Oh. Barb". The pair nodded. "If it helps I have another stupid best friend who isn't dead. Eddie the Freak Munson". Robin smiled. "You know what? I think you and I were supposed to be friends. Soulmates". Nancy felt weird saying friends. It disgusted her. For no reason.

"I guess. Thanks for the ride Nance. See you Monday". Robin jumped out the car and Nancy watched her head into the house. Nancy sat watching Robin mess around with the key. She slammed the door and cursed and shouted in her own street. Nancy laughed as Robin ran back to the car. "So my key broke. Meaning I can't get in until next week. So uh thought I should tell you so you don't wait out here all night". Robin turned to slam into the door. Nancy laughed and it hit her. "Would you want to stay at mine? I mean I've got clothes my parent can cook and we have most of the same classes". Robin was confused. "We've barely been friends for that long and you want me to live with you for a week?" Nancy nodded. "I've got some clothes at Eddies. I can't live with him though. He has some friends over usually". Robin laughed.

"Ok well cheers Ed. Nice tattoo by the way. New?" Robin walked away from the shirtless Eddie. He waved her off. "He had a friend over. Got clothes though. And my stuff". Nancy laughed and drove home. They both walked in and Nancy grabbed her hand and her mother noticed. "Nancy Wheeler! Where on earth have you been? And who is this?" Robin smirked. Nancy panicked. "I went to a concert? This is Robin. A friend". Robin waved. "What concert?" Nancy rolled her eyes. Mike walked in after Nancy. "Corroded Coffin". Mike walked off again. "Mike! Damn it". Karen became slightly frustrated. "That hideous Rock band?! Why didn't you tell us?" Robin was confused. "That's my band Mrs W. I feel like if you respected everyone she would've told you". Nancy laughed and the girls went up the stairs. "Why is she staying here?" Karen asked. "A week. Deal with it". They left laughing at the night that they had endured. "Thanks". Robin lay on the bed. Nancy lay next to her. "Can I be honest?" Nancy asked. "Sure". They stared at each other. "You're like my favourite person. Even though we've known each other for like a week". The pair laughed. "You're my favourite person too".
