Warning: Angst, blood, snakes and death

The sky is dark, the wind is cold... and the ground is bloodied. Y/N walks among the fights between Death Eaters and members of the Order, looking everywhere as she does so. Where is he? Is he okay?

She's looking for Severus Snape, her husband.

She's the only one who knows whose side he's truly on - the Order of the Phoenix. All this time, she couldn't tell anyone. However, she's glad that he chose to tell her and not keep it to himself - it would have truly worn him out.

Another person knew of his secret as well - Albus Dumbledore, but he's dead. He asked Severus to kill him...

Y/N remembers that night. He was devastated as everybody hated him for what he did. Well, everybody except for his wife who comforted him.

As she's walking, she can't help but have a bad feeling. Is Severus okay? She truly hopes he is.

When she's just outside the Shrieking Shack, she hears a voice. It's You-Know-Who...

She suddenly hears another voice answering him. No, Severus...

She barely gets to register what they are talking about as she hears a snake slither. Before she can make a sound, it's too late. She hears her husband in pain.

Not wasting any second, she immediately runs inside. You-Know-Who and his snake are long gone.

She spots her husband on the floor - the snake bit his neck. There's blood everywhere - on his neck, on his hands, on his clothes, on the ground...

She hurries towards him. "S-Sev?" she whispers, tears in her eyes. She desperately tries to stop the bleeding in vain. It just won't stop...

He looks at her, a sad look on his face. "Y/N... Please forgive me... You'll have to move on" he whispers, each word physically paining him due to the bleeding wound.

She looks at him, furiously shaking her head. "No... No, please don't leave me!" she begs.

He slowly grabs her hand, his own ice cold. "I love you..." he whispers before breathing one last time, his body turning limp.

"NO! No, no, no!!!!" Y/N screams, her tears falling down her cheeks. Everything then turns black...

She can feel somebody gently shaking her. "Love? Are you okay?" they whisper. She knows that voice...

She immediately opens her eyes, staring at the man she just watched die. She wraps her arms around him so tightly, afraid he will disappear if she lets go.

She sobs. "Y-you died..." she says, sniffling. She notices that they are in bed.

Severus draws comforting circles on her back while shushing her. "It was just a nightmare... It wasn't real - I'm here beside you, love" he whispers, kissing her cheek. He wipes away her tears as he looks at her, offering her a small but reassuring smile.

Y/N blinks a few times, making sure it's real and not an illusion. As he's still there in front of her, alive, she sighs in relief. He's right... It was just a nightmare. He's right beside her, alive and well.

She rests her head on his shoulder. As she does so, she notices the scar on his neck... A sign that he survived. She slowly traces it with a finger, making him shiver.

"Please don't ever leave me..." she whispers, looking up at him.

"I would never dream of doing that" he assures her, capturing her lips with his own.

Y/N comforted Severus on the night he killed Dumbledore, and now it's his turn to comfort her - which he succeeded in.

Severus Snape survived Nagini's attack that night in the Shrieking Shack, and he's living his best life together with his wife. All is well.
