Lucius is in his study. He's not reading like he usually does - instead, he's waiting for his daughter. He has requested for her presence as Draco told him something rather disturbing when they returned from Hogwarts.

He told his father that his precious daughter has become friends with the Gryffindors. The Boy Who Lived, nonetheless.

Lucius grimaces at the thought. Y/N Malfoy, friends with Gryffindors? That can't happen. He won't allow it. What wouldn't the Dark Lord think if he found out?

After being deep in thought, he hears the familiar footsteps of his daughter. "You wanted to see me, Father?" she innocently asks, having no idea why he has requested for her.

Lucius slowly faces her, supporting his weight on his cane. "I've heard some rather disturbing news. Is it true that you have become friends with the... Gryffindors?" he asks, not even hiding his disgust.

Y/N nods, not caring that he dislikes them. "That's right. And?" she questions.

Lucius stares at her. "AND?! Y/N, do you have any idea how bad this is? I cannot have a daughter who's friends with Gryffindors. Especially not... him" he states, voice filled with venom.

"Father... Please be reasonable. I like Harry, he's a nice guy. You really shouldn't be working for him" she slowly says, referring to the Dark Lord.

Lucius stares at her, anger visible on his face. A loud smacking sound can be heard as he slaps her, hard.

"How dare you say something like that? Haven't I raised you better?" he asks in disbelief.

Y/N grabs her cheek in pain, eyes filled with tears. As she looks up at him, her heart sinks to the floor. He doesn't show any regret.

"Will you take your words back? Will you stop befriending these idiotic Gryffindors and start acting like a proper Malfoy?" he demands, raising an eyebrow at her.

She looks at him deep in the eyes. "I won't" she says, defying him.

Without looking at her, he points his cane to the door. "Very well, then you are no longer my daughter. I cannot have such a disgrace in my manor. Leave, go and live with your Gryffindor friends. I never want to see you again" he says, voice cold.

Trying to hold back her tears, Y/N storms out of his study. She asks one of the house elves to take her to the Burrow where the Weasleys live.

She explains to them what happened. Understanding, Molly and Arthur Weasley let her stay in their home for as long as she wants to. Ginny comforts her all night, hugging her until she finally falls asleep after crying for many hours.

A few years later at the grounds of Hogwarts, Lucius is among all the other Death Eaters. They have won. Harry Potter is dead.

As the Dark Lord is asking anyone wishing to join them to step forward, the blonde-haired man looks among all the people on the other side. He sees his son, Draco. He however doesn't see his daughter anywhere.

Y/N. He won't admit it to anyone, but he has missed her all these years. Whenever he can't sleep, he thinks of her when she was younger. How he read stories to her, lulled her to sleep, braided her hair.

He remembers one time she had nightmares and came to his and Narcissa's room. The woman was fast asleep, so it was Lucius' duty to comfort the upset little girl.

He tries his best not to smile at the thought. How he wishes to see her again. See her smile, hear her laugh. Embrace her in his arms.

His thoughts are interrupted as he gets eye contact with Draco. He reaches his arm for him.

"Draco" he calls, begging him to step forward.

He calls again, but it doesn't work. However, when Narcissa calls for him, the boy reluctantly steps forward.

Lucius winces to himself when the Dark Lord hugs his son. That man has ruined everything for him. His reputation, his dignity, his family. He despises him.

As Draco slowly approaches his family, Narcissa hugs him tightly. Lucius looks at the crowd on the other side - he still doesn't see his daughter.

He looks at his son. "Draco... Where is she?" he asks, begging to Merlin he knows.

When Draco looks at him, his face shows hatred and sadness. "She's dead" he whispers, tears in his eyes.

Narcissa gasps, tears in her eyes as well. She hugs her son even tighter than before.

Lucius merely stares at him, not believing what he just heard. No. She can't be dead. She can't...

Suddenly, the Boy Who Lived jumps out of Rubeus Hagrid's arms. Lucius is in disbelief. He isn't dead!

While the Dark Lord is furious and attacks the boy, the Malfoy family escapes.

As they keep running, Lucius unconsciously looks over his shoulder, almost as if hoping to see his daughter there.

She isn't. She's truly gone - he will never see her again.

If only he had listened, this wouldn't have happened. If only he had listened, he would still have his daughter and be on the winning side.

He truly regrets what he said to her that day. He also deeply regrets slapping her - that was the last thing he did to her. That was the last time he saw her.

Now, he has to escape like a coward, running away and hiding. All this, and his daughter isn't alive anymore.

He screams out loud, not caring if anybody hears him. He has lost what he realises was the most precious thing to him - his daughter, Y/N Malfoy.
