Since this is a Alternate timeline when everyone was in kryptarium prison. After Elena saw the mechanic trying to scrap Zane she ended up horribly beating him up in a fit in rage before he succumbed to his injuries.
Because of that she was brought to solitary confinement and had a tracker device put on her. However she was able to escape with the others and got the tracker device off of her.
After everything was erased, nobody expected Nya and Jay remember what happened and the mechanic is still alive.
