After Zane's " Death "
Elena was absolutely distraught.
She was the first to leave the group. Leaving in the middle of the night without even saying goodbye. She also took Zane's old GI and wore it most of the time. If she wasn't wearing that, then she would wear the color black as a sign of her in deep mourning.

She went back to wandering around Ninjago city, taking up odd jobs. She however discover her interest and hobby of Lost artifacts and took up a full time Job of being a archaeologist at the museum.

Everyday if she could, she would visit Zane's memorial statue and would tidy it up, making sure it was in a flawless state. Leaving flowers at it every month.

Her mind of state was very fragile as the little thing could remind her of Zane, causing her to breakdown crying.
She would randomly hear him or see him from the corner of her eye's.
By the time of the tournament of elements she was losing her mind and beginning to go insane as her mind drifted to very dark places.

During Hunted.

She lost half of her face plate during the bounty crashing. She also ended up losing her right arm during the arena at dead's end by the dragon. She got fixed after she returned to Ninjago.

She discovers her powers when the ninja fight the pirates in season 2. She ended up freezing one of them in time, when she saw they were about to throw Zane off the plank after they took the group hostage.
( Nya wasn't able to get there fast enough )
With her new found powers she was easily able to defeat them. Before passing out exhausted. She doesn't remember any of it.

When Zane was about to be banished by the staff, Elena attempted to throw herself in front of him to save him. Only for them to both be banished in the Never Realm.
After retreating to a cave and a unknown amount of weeks later, Elena began to lose hope and believe that the other ninjas abandoned them.

When Zane hooked himself up to the mech, Vex was able to knock Elena out and began to flip switchs on her control board. Causing her to lose her memory. When she woke up, Vex was able to convince the couple that they were the true rulers of the never realm and overthrown the king together.

As the empress she was cruel and was the one that carried out the genocide against the yeti with Krag being the only survivor. The only person, she showed affection was for the ice emperor as the only thing she actually remember was the love she had for Zane. Even if she didn't remember him at all.

Swimsuit

She wasn't waterproof until after getting damaged during the island season. She asked Pixal and Borg to helped upgrade her body to be waterproof so she would be able to go with everyone during water missions.
