At first Elena hated Harumi, feeling no sympathy for her, when she killed her adopted parents. The two didn't get along at first as Harumi treated her like a emotionless robot and told her that she couldn't possibly have feelings. However after a long period of time and the two met up again during Crystalized,
Harumi apologize and felt horrible for the things she said to her. The two slowly bonded, mostly due to their similar personality of being violent and making rash decisions. I can imagine the two of them talking and being like, " Oh, you hear voices in your head? Me too! " And Lloyd and Zane overhearing the two and staring at them in pure concern.
Elena feels like she can talk to Harumi about anything without judgment, and can relate to each other. Harumi is one of the few people she talks to about her time as the empress of the Never realm in detail. She even asks Harumi if she can babysit or keep a eye on her children Czarina and Gene but Zane shot that idea down almost immediately.
I also see Harumi taking a interest in Elena's culture and Elena is always more then happy to teach her phrases in her native language Russian.
But don't ever. leave these two alone for the sake of the crime rate in Ninjago because they two will get into so much trouble together. The others try to make sure they are never alone together.
