The Red Keep, King's Landing
301 AC
It was done.
Visenya couldn't believe the plan had worked.
Joffrey was killed by Robb when he tried to flee, while Aaron had killed Cersei during the storming of the Red Keep.
House Targaryen had fallen, but risen from the ashes.
The Red Keep was the Targaryens again.
Westeros was ruled by House Targaryen again.
The Iron Lady, the servants whispered, the singers dubbed her.
The daughter of Rhaegar, back from Dorne and soon to be the first Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lady of the Seven Kingdom, Protectress of the Realm.
Visenya had accomplished what Rhaenyra had failed to do.
The Baratheon banners were replaced with Targaryen banners, Joffrey and Cersei's supporters purged from the court.
All of that had been three months ago—the Golden Dragon had thrown herself into work to repair as much as the royal court as she could with Jacaerys at her side.
She had purged the Small Council as well.
Her hand was, after a long debate of who to appoint, Olenna Tyrell. The old lady was going to outlive them all, Visenya was going to bet on.
Master of Coin was given to Willas Tyrell. Despite being a cripple, his mind was still sharp and cunning, and money savvy.
Master of Laws went to Oberyn, who she knew would fix many of the laws and make sure they were properly enforced.
She granted Master of Ships to went to Lady Sereni Velaryon, who knew her shit went it came to ships and boats.
And since Varys was effective, she kept him around but with strict orders to find his replacement and train him or her.
Ser Arthur was her Lord Commander of the Queensguard. Ser Barristan and Loras Tyrell joined as well, with Jaime already filling a spot in the Queensguard.
Lacking three posts, she agreed on a second War of the Whitecloaks, like Jaehaerys Targaryen, the First of His Name in a melee during a tourney after her coronation.
That is today's chapter. I hate battle scenes, so I just skipped it.
