Earlier:

I give up.

Xander thought to himself after releasing the spoon from his tight shaky grip.

Quivering in frustration, he felt his skin prickle with anger, and his fist tightened around the covers, too tight his knuckles turned white and his hands became shaky.

He looked at the tray in front of him with eyes that flashed a hint of anger and sadness as if the food was mocking him for being weak or perhaps even pathetic.

I'm not pathetic.

He repeatedly whispered those words; both palms roughly grabbing his hair while resting on his temples.

Yet those thoughts didn't seem to leave his head, they got louder and louder telling him how frail and paranoid he is.

"Shut up!"

He yelled at the top of his lungs as he flipped the tray forcefully throwing it against a wall.

Xander balled up, hugging his knees and slightly rocking himself for comfort. Blood pounded in his ears, his chest closed up before allowing tears to stream down his face.

________

The door barged open, revealing a shocked Elliot who stood there, not knowing how to process what he had just seen.

Elliot's POV:

It was dark, the only thing I saw when successfully breaking the lock was food all over the place, and a figure facing its back towards me, I figured that's where the loud sobs came from.

"Xander, bro you good?"

Of course he's not, idiot why the hell am I asking that?

I took a couple of steps forward to get to his side, still examining the room and being careful with my steps so I don't step on any of the food.

I took a seat on the side of his bed, "What happened- no, first of all, are you hurt? Should I call a nurse?"

*Sniff*

Right, okay... Shit uh, I'm not really good with these types of situations.

I hesitantly placed my hand on his shoulder gently patting him.

"You can talk to me whenever you're ready dude."

Soon enough he turned, he was no longer on his side now, he laid on his back and looked up at me who was seated.

End of POV.

Xander's bloodshot, puffy green eyes blankly stared at Elliot's dark ones. It was after a few minutes of silence before Elliott's lips curved into a reassuring and affectionate smile as he shifted Xander's soaked hair to get a clearer view of his face.

"sniff* what are you smiling at."

"Don't start,"

" ...."

" I don't have a napkin on me right now."

"Didn't ask for one."

"You clearly need one though."

"What, are you gonna argue here too?"

"No one was arguing, you're the one trying to start something with me for God knows what reason."

"Yeah, but you started it."

"Oh God forbid you grow up for once Xander,"

Xander sat up supporting his back on the head of his bed and exhaled a breath he didn't know he kept in. "I'm sorry."
