"Well, I was also hoping to do a little bit of.." Luz pulls me in by the collar. "Research!" She yanks me out the door, eliciting a shout from me as I am pulled away to the library.

As we walk through the crowded streets of Bonesburrow, Luz takes my silence as an invitation to start talking. "So, Eda's mom told me I'm not the only human to have lived here. If that's true, there might be some information on how they got here at the library!" Luz grins, slamming her fist into her palm.

Sighing, I nod at Luz. "Yeah. Looking through old newspapers is about all I'm good for anyway."

Luz slides in front of me, stopping me in my dejected tracks. "Spill it, Gustonimo." I try to turn away, but Luz follows. "Are you okay?" Hah. What a complicated question to answer. I go for the simplest option.

"I- I've just been thinking. What if it's time for me to explore different types of magic?" My heart hurts just thinking the words, but illusions are.. stupid. "I'm all for trying new things, but what's wrong with illusions?"

"Illusions are just so-" I accent my sentence with a twirling hand motion. "Y'know-" I'm interrupted by a loud roar. Looking down, I see a hideous Slitherbeast attacking an Animal Control officer clearly trying to subdue it.

A small demon child wanders into the path of the beast. Apparently, the toddler caught the hideous monster's eye. I grimace, but before the monster can reach the kid, two people brandishing spell circles jump into its path.

The pretty boy summons an abomination, which the Slitherbeast slips on. The other one grows vines from the dirt, flinging the creature far away. Finally, a purple-haired girl jumps out of nowhere and slams her fist into the ground, encasing the creature in walls of solid stone.

"Good work, guys!" she calls to her team.
I think I'm in love.
