"We're journeying to the Looking Glass Ruins in the Forearm Forest!" Bria jumps in excitement.
"What's wrong, Augustus? Scared?" Mattholomule grins cockily at me, but I can tell under his expression he's more freaked out than me (and that's saying something, because he wasn't wrong. I'm scared.)
"We all are," insists Bria. "Who knows what awaits us out there? But we all got each other's back, right?" She winks subtly at me, and my face begins to burn. "Yeah!" I squeak. Grimacing, I quickly fix my voice.
"Um, yeah. Yeah, alright, let's go!" As I jog down the hill, the others cheering and following close behind me, I spare a glance back to the small terrain. To my surprise. Matty is still standing there, looking oddly disappointed, and if I didn't know better, I'd say... a little jealous.
He doesn't try to hide it, but I think that's mainly because he doesn't notice my gaze. "Woo," he mumbles, sadly lifting his arm. I spin around and try to pretend I saw nothing, though his expression is still itching at me.
"This will be a breeze once we get the Galdorstones," hums Bria, slicing through the bushes in her way. "What can the Galdorstones actually do?"
"If you're holding one," Matty chats, walking up to me, "any spell you cast gets a biiig power boost!" He accents this statement with some air punches, which is kinda cute. I smile to myself.
No, no, no. I am NOT letting whatever feelings I have for Matt- Mattholomule get in the way of this mission. I could finally be liked for who I am, and I don't want to mess that up.
I turn away from Mattholomule and tune out the others' chatter about what they would do with the stones (All I gather is that Angmar wants to build a forest and Gavin has daddy issues.) I need to stay focused. I can't lose this chance.
(A/N: we must stay focused brothers)
