I give an obligatory "woah," staring at nothing as I continue to walk.

"So-rry," Matt sings, "Doesn't do squat for illusions. Can't enhance what's not actually there," he snarks, giving my shoulder a small shove with no real force behind it. My skin tingles at the slight touch, but I push him back with more power than I intended. "Pfft. I know that."

I did not know that. Guess the stones will be useless to me, but at least if I get them for the others, they'll be happy with me.

He gives me a grumpy expression, knocking the same shoulder as before. We stare at each other with matching looks on out faces before we start fighting like children. "Hold up, guys," Bria interrupts. "We've come to our first challenge."

Her words cause Matt to stop pushing at me with his hand on my face. Can't say I don't enjoy it in the deepest, darkest part of my soul.

We break apart with our hands still lingering in the air. I can't help but notice the slightest red tinge on Matt's face, but it's probably my imagination. Yup. There's no way Matt would like me- he probably doesn't even like guys, and having a crush on my sort of bully is, well, sort of pathetic.

Matt smirks from his spot next to me. "Show us what you got, Augustus," he laughs, giving me one (hopefully) final shove. I rub my arm resentfully as he goes on. "What did the human call you? A 'super witch'?" He spreads his hands and giggles maliciously.

Like I said. Pathetic.

Bria cheerfully laughs. "That's a great idea! Go on, Gus. I know you can do it." She's so supportive, but something about it just isn't right. I ignore it, turning to the brambles.

I hope you're right, Bria.

(A/N: i feel like i'm reusing chapter names from my last book but for the life of me i can't remember what i already used)
