DAILY SONG CHOICE: BE MY BABY - THE RONETTES <3!!

**********

"Get up, dipshit, you're gonna be late. Mom's gonna kill us both if you're not downstairs in 10 minutes." My older brother cursed, pulling the covers off of me rudely.

I sigh, watching him exit the room, leaving an echo from I roll myself out of bed with a thud and an ache in my head.
...
My older brother, Andrew, is around 17 years old. He is my only sibling, and we both live with my mom who is quite a drug addict and alcoholic.

My father wasn't in the picture. He was never a good man. Cheated on my mother, which Andrew and I were informed about, was involved in illegal activities, always threatened Andrew and I, telling us 'if you tell your mother, I'll kill you.', shit like that.

So us two stayed quiet for at least 3 years, if not, maybe even 4.

If you couldn't tell, it was definitely not easy. Dad scared us. We didn't want to be around him anymore, and we were sort of glad he was arrested 6 months ago.

My mom is a mess, and she occasionally lashes out on us, mentally but also physically.
...

I threw on something simple, nothing crazy, and tied my hair up into a loose bun.

I put on my black and white converse, running down the stairs to find my mother, angry as ever.

In the corner of my eye, there was Andrew. He was standing next to the front door, once I took my focus onto him, he was mouthing something like, 'I warned you'.

My mother scolded me about sleeping in so late, slapped me around a bit, leaving a few red marks on my face, then sent me to school with my brother.

The day was normal. Math was shitty, my number one enemy, Robin Arellano kept bothering me.

In first period, he sits behind me, and he would keep blowing at my neck, non-stop.

In third period he sits directly next to me, and he's always asking for answers, flicking my arm and at lunch, he would sit at a completely different table than me, but he'd throw a piece of lettuce or cherry tomato at me like every 2 minutes.

To top it all off, in gym he would trip me or steal my clothes from my locker by sneaking into the girls locker room, knowing that id be the only one left in there because 'I take forever to shower and change.'

I'd never get them back, thankfully it'd be the end of the day, so I snuck out the back doors with just a towel on, which was embarrassing and annoying.

But that wasn't too often, it was usually only if I crashed his hang outs with Finney, who is my best buddy.

I knew Finn for the same amount of time I knew Robin, though, Finn was friends with him so it was really weird to talk about our rivalry with him.

I always got him back though.

As pay back, I'd steal his snacks, sometimes steal his lunch money if I felt like being evil, and I again, always crash his hangouts with Finn, especially if they were Drive-In Movies.

I was transitioning into my last period of the day, grabbing stuff from my lockers peacefully, up until Robin had to ruin it.

He came bolting down the hallway, his hair tied up into a low, messy ponytail, wearing a white T-shirt and black sweats.
