Legolas's POV
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"Legolas! Legolas!" A voice called from down the hall.
Legolas, at his desk in his room, groused tacitly. He knew that voice. It was the voice he had grown to despise and contemn greatly. He scooted his chair back from the paper-piled desk and made his way towards the door. Before he could open it, the wooden entrance swung wide open. Legolas jolted backwards in surprise.
"Oh! I'm sorry. Did I frighten you? I didn't mean to. I would never mea-"
"No, it's fine. What is it, Ansrin?" Legolas attempted at his best to sound at the least semi-nice, but his voice still slipped agitation.
You cannot blame him, honestly. The girl had ruined the chances he had had with someone he actually was attracted to, she decided to stay forever as a maid of the palace, and she would not leave him alone.
It's always, Legolas this and Legolas that. She continued to flirt desperately with him even though he dropped hints that he was not into her. He never would be interested in her. The girl he had in mind was... Somewhere... Far away...
"What was I here for again?" The towhead elf stood in thought for a moment, her eyes gazing into space. You'd think it would be hard to lose thoughts in such an empty head. "Oh yeah! I remember now! Word on the rise is that Gollum is around!" She bounced up and down with excitement.
Legolas didn't understand this girl. How could she be eager and excited about that? That would confirm the rumors of the kidnap of Gollum into Mordor, which would make the tales of Gollum telling where the ring was true, WHICH ALSO MEANS the ring is back!
"Where did you hear that from?" Legolas forcefully asked.
"From the other maids who heard it from some citizens who heard it from some patrolling elves." She explained in a nonchalant voice.
He said nothing. The Woodland Prince thanked her and, as quick as he could manage, slipped past Ansrin into the hall.
"H-Hey! Where are you going?" She called, pivoting around to see where he was heading off to.
"To get some answers." He replied as he hastened down the golden-lit hallway.
And get answers he shall.
As Legolas swiveled around a few corners and shot through the corridors, he felt himself being engulfed into a swarm of noisy elves. It seemed like the entire staff of the palace had formed some kind of mob. He could not decipher what they were saying for the lot of them mumbled things to one another to a point were it was a dull roar. Legolas thought twice about slinking out of the group for curiosity got the best of him.
"What is the problem here?" He asked one of the nobles who turned to see who spoke. Their face sparked with shock.
"My Lord Legolas!" She gasped. When she had recouped herself, she whispered, "The patrol is coming back soon. Some say they have seen the creature Smeagòl, or Gollum."
"So I've heard..." He whispered in return, veering his gaze in front of him. Through the elves, he could see the wooden double doors.
Suddenly, they burst open and a patrol of 9 elves hopped off of their horses. The foremost of the troop burst through the open doors.
