**TW: This part contains a scene with animal hunting, so if that upsets or triggers anyone, please skip to the next section after the paw prints**

Jongin's POV

While our way of life was certainly considered modern to older werewolves, I mostly strived for balance in both my personal life and leadership as an alpha. I saw the value in both being progressive and in carrying traditions from our ancestors with us. Of course, each pack had their own set of traditions depending on the region and country they lived in, and then those same traditions could even differ from family to family.

Across most--if not all--packs, passing along the skill of hunting was the one every kid and parent looked forward to the most. It was a right of passage, their first step into adolescence and a preview of the adulthood that would too soon follow. In that case, maybe the kids were more excited for it than the parents. But still, I couldn't ignore the excited spark I felt when Jaehyun and Lily had finally reached that age.

"Daddyyyyyy, quit stalling," Lily whined, holding onto the edge of the counter as she jumped up and down.

"I'm not stalling," I replied teasingly as I read over the morning newspaper and took the slowest sip of tea I possibly cloud.

"Yes, you are." She frowned after she stopped jumping. "You've been drinking the same tea for the past 40 minutes."

"I have no idea what you're talking about," I said before finally bringing the cup to my lips. Her frown deepened and her brow furrowed along with it, and I held back a chuckle for dramatic effect.

"Appa, daddy is stalling because he doesn't want to take us hunting," she said as Kyungsoo came into the kitchen from upstairs. Kyungsoo and I exchanged a knowing look and he laughed.

"Oh, I doubt it's that, sweetie. It's probably just too hot to drink fast," he said, playing right along with me. He stopped in front of the coffee maker and began making himself a drink. "Did you even eat breakfast yet? Don't expect me to let you go out hunting on an empty stomach."

"Jaehyun and I finished breakfast about three days ago," she replied with a dramatic eye roll and cross of her arms.

Kyungsoo smiled amusingly. "Then that must mean you're still hungry," he replied, causing Lily to groan and throw her head back.

"Guys, I know why you're doing this, but it's not like I'm moving out of the house yet. I just want to learn how to hunt," she said, shuffling around impatiently.

I broke character and laughed, setting the mug down on the counter. "I know you've been waiting for this a long time, princess, but you gotta go easy on us. It's hard for us to see you two growing up so much when it seems like yesterday that you were just little," I explained gently.

"Yeah, time passes differently for parents and kids," Kyungsoo chimed in, a cup of coffee now in his hands now. Lily just rolled her eyes and shook her head in response and then Jaehyun came back downstairs.

"Are they still stalling?" he asked.

"No, but they've moved on to the sentimental explanation of their stalling," Lily answered, crossing her arms over her chest now.

"So....it'll at least be another ten minutes until we actually leave?"

She sighed and propped her elbows up on the counter, resting her chin in her hands afterward. "If we're lucky..."

Kyungsoo and I looked at each other and laughed at their exchange. "You two are something else," I said, letting out a few extra laughs. "So dramatic."

"We could be hunters if actually taught us how," Jaehyun retorted as he took a seat on one of the bar stools.
