Kenta blew the steam right into my face. "Seriously?" I asked him. "Oops, sorry about that." He said. I gave him an annoyed look and he nervously smiled. "So how old are you?" Kenta asked me. I raised my eyebrow. "How old are you?" I questioned him. I started slurping up my noodles. "Last time I saw you and your friends, you guys were drinking alcohol and smoking." He looked right in my eyes and laughed. "Correction, my friends were doing all of those things. Not me." He answered.
"Ok...so how old are you then?" I asked him one last time. "I'm 17." He answered proudly. I could tell that this nut job was lying straight to my face. I waited patiently for him to tell the truth. "Ugh. You're so persistent." He placed his head down on the table facing the ground. "I'm 16, AND A HALF. I'm turning 17 in November." He confessed. I laughed at his emphasis of "and a half." Everyone around us who was eating turned to look at me and I quieted down embarrassed.
After a little while, he faced back up and started eating his food. "What about you?" He asked me. "I'm 15." He choked on his food. "You're 15?" He asked me. I squinted my eyes at him. "What? Have you also gone deaf now?" I shook my head and finished my noodles. I could see him smiling very big.
"Why the heck are you smiling, weirdo?" He started laughing very loud; cackling even. More heads turn to our table as Kenta laughs maniacally. "You bozo, quit laughing! People keep looking at us!" I lightly hit him on the shoulder. "I- I CAN'T! BAHAHHAHAHA!" He stuttered while laughing. Then after a little while, he soon calmed down but still kept giggling once in a while.
"All this time I've been acting like a little dog to you but I find out I'm older than you." Kenta said. "Ok, grandpa." I replied to him. Kenta pouted his lips. "Hey! Now that's just plain ol' bullying! You're not very nice at all, Summer." I glared at him. "Okay, yes ma'am."
...
I started scrolling on social media as I liked my friends' posts. Kenta then started slurping his juice obnoxiously loud. I slowly moved my head away from my phone and eyed him up and down. He nervously smiled at me and put down the juice. I rolled my eyes.
Should I add this idiot on my line? No, I shouldn't. I'd just be digging my own grave by then. But then again he's older than me. No, age shouldn't even matter. But if I don't do it, he'll be nagging me all summer about it. But if I do add him, he'd still be nagging me through the phone. But, I could just block him after I add him. But he could just make another account. Forget it, I won't add him. Ugh, but he's sort of cute. Wait what? God, you are SUCH an idiot.
"Hey theree~ Summer~ You alive?" Kenta waved his hands in front of my face snapping me out of my self-consciousness. He smiled at me as I brought my attention back to him. The corners of eyes had a crease on them and his smile lines perfectly lined up with his full lips. I could feel my cheeks warming up. I turned to the window and clenched my jaw. Why does this idiot have to smile to much?!
"Is something the matter?" Kenta asked. I slid my phone over to him opened Line to distract him. I glanced over at him. I could see his mouth open wide in shock. He happily took the phone and typed in his contact. I smiled. I then caught myself mid smile. Why am I smiling? There is no reason to be smiling about anything.
"Here! Type something to me." He gave me my phone back. I typed in 'hi'. "DING!" Kenta took his phone out and saved my line. "Thank youu~" He sang. I chuckled. I could see he was changing my contact name. "What are you naming me?" I asked. He quickly hid his phone on his chest. "Don't worry about it." He answered.
Two guys come up to our table and I could see Kenta change his expression almost entirely. "Hey, Kenta." A boy greeted. He turned to look at me. He was tall, built, tan, and had bleached hair. He looked as if he was 21 or something. He looked me up and down as he turned back to Kenta and laughed. I saw that Kenta had an uncomfortable look. "Is this that chick from last night?" He had asked.
Last night? Was he there? Now that I think about it, when I looked over at the campfire, I might have overlooked him. Kenta stayed quiet. "..Um well anyways, me and Yuuki are going out for a smoke. You coming?" The guy asked. I questionably looked at Kenta but he couldn't even look me in the eyes. I'm not the best at reading peoples feelings but his face was written all over with guilt. I scoffed. There's no way he would get up from the table.
