I wiped the sweat beading on my forehead and on the back of my neck. I held my long thick hair back up as I kept stirring the curry. I go back to the cutting board and mince up garlic. I then plop it into the curry. "Ploop." It drowns. I sigh as I look at my to do list; I check off making dinner.
take out trash
water the plants ✅
make dinner ✅
wash the dishes ✅
workout ✅Great, saved the one that requires the least amount of effort last. I pull back the hair from my forehead and take a long breath out. I gather all the trash from around the house and carry all of them in both my hands. I kick open the door with my foot as I am unable to twist the door knob.
As I bust through the door, Suuga quickly moves out of the way to not get slammed. "Woah!" Suuga put his arm out in front of him but the door hits his nose. He dropped to the ground. "Oh my gosh! Suuga, are you okay?" I dropped the bags and fell down to my knees in front of him.
"Did you get hurt? I didn't mean to slam the door like that." I tried to explain myself while turning his head around with my hands looking for cuts. Suuga lied on the ground and quietly said, "...I'm okay.."
I covered my mouth in shock. "Oh Jesus, you're bleeding!" His nose soon started to flow out fresh blood. He felt the blood with his finger. He sat up. "It's fine, Summer. It's not that serious-" I took his arm and pulled him inside my house. "You're coming with me, I don't care what you say."
Me and Suuga sat across from each other in awkward silence. He faced the ground shameful as I crossed my arms and sneered at him. He then looked back at me with those innocent eyes.
"So are you gonna tell me why you just randomly showed up to my house uninvited?" I questioned Suuga. "I have no idea what you mean." He rested his elbow on his knee while tilting his head at me. I squinted my eyes at him. "Don't play dumb with me, boy." I said sternly. His head perked up intrigued. "Boy? I'm older than you, though." He smiled. I rolled my eyes at him annoyed.
"First of all, how do you even know where I live and what do you even want?" I asked. He laughed. "It's a small town, Summer. I just about went around every door step and coincidentally, I found you greeting me by a good slam to my nose." Suuga recalled. "...is your nose any better?" I asked.
Suuga removed the tissue from his nose. "Yeah, the blood got lighter." I could still see that his nose was a little red from the impact. I sighed. "I'm really sorry, Suuga. I swear it wasn't intentional." I apologized once more. "Hey, it's okay. I know and I'm fine." Suuga reassured me.
Suuga stood up and stretched his arm over his head. "Well anyways, I came over here to ask if you wanted to hang with me and my friends at the beach." Suuga asked. "Beach? Hm.." I checked the time on my phone. I don't think it'd be a bad idea to go for a little while; I'll text mom. "Who's gonna be there?" I asked. "Just a couple people our age and Kenta. You know him." He answered.
"Kenta?" I asked. I turn to face the ground in embarrassment remembering what happened a few days ago. After we kissed, I kinda just left him hanging. I ignored his texts and his calls.
Suuga tilted his head like a curious dog. "Did something happen between you two?" Suuga questioned. I continued to face the ground fiddling the ends of my hair. Suuga smirked at me. "You're very naughty, Summer." I tried to keep my embarrassment inside of me.
"Let's go." Kenta took my arm and led me to the door. "Wait! I don't even have a bathing suit!" I exclaimed. I tried to take his hand off my arm but he gripped on. "Don't worry about it, the girls have already got that covered." Kenta said. I squinted my eyes at him and all he did was smile. Yet another reason why you should never give boys a chance.
The hot sand on my feet burned as I ran across the beach with Suuga. How did I even end up here? "There they are." Suuga pointed to a group of girls; three of them. They waved over to us signally to come over. "Make some friends, alright? See you in a bit." Suuga patted my shoulder and walked off to the rest of his friends a little far away. I look back at the girls and they wave at me. I waved back.
"Hey, Summer! It's so nice to finally meet you!" The girl with the long straight bleached hair hugged me. She had a very thick Okinawan accent but I sort of understood her; my dad was Okinawan.
"Hey..? How do you know my name? Do I know you?" I asked her. "Well, you don't know me but I know you. Kenta talks about you a lot, which is strange, but he really seems to like you." She said. "What does he say about me?" I asked curiously. "Well, he talks about how you bully him a lot, but he also talks about how he can really be himself around you. Every time he talks about you, he just really gets excited." I nodded.
"Anyways, I'm so sorry for being rude, I haven't even told you my name yet!" She exclaimed. She shook her head. "I'm Arisu Kagami, happy to make your acquaintance." Arisu smiled at me. The two other girls just stayed silent the whole time Arisu spoke. Were they waiting for her to stop talking? "My name is Kimeko Ueno." A girl with long black hair and bangs said. Surprisingly, she had quite a gentle voice. I expected her to sound more loud but I was wrong.
"Nice to meet you two." I smiled at both of them and they returned the smile. The last girl had her arms crossed while looking the other way. She had sunglasses on so I couldn't tell if she was looking at me or not. "Nice to meet you, I'm Summer." She faced to me and removed her sunglasses.
She was very pretty indeed. She didn't even look Japanese but like a foreigner. Or is she mixed. She had hazel to green almond eyes with tight brown curls with blonde highlights. She was tan and had a hour glass body. She was like a model. "Likewise." She said. Then, she went back to looking at her nails. She didn't even tell me her name.
"..um.." I said unsurely. Arisu looked back and me and took my hands. "Well anyways, I've got your bathing suit. Come change." Arisu took me towards what I assumed is the bathroom. "Hanako actually picked it out herself. She was pretty excited to meet you." Kimeko remarked.
"I don't know about 'pretty excited'. If anything, I think just me being there annoyed her." I fiddled with my fingers. Arisu frowned and rubbed my shoulder. "Hey, come on now, don't be so down. She's like that with everyone. She acts like she doesn't care but she really does, trust me." Arisu explained. "I guess." I replied.
"Here's the bathing suit, I think you'd look super cute with it. And I think the boys would like it too." Arisu winked. I chuckled. I unfolded the bathing suit, it was a two-piece yellow bikini with lace on the breast at the top. She was right, it was super cute.
"Hanako has good taste." I said. "Yeah. She's super good with fashion. Her parents let her attend a private fashion school when she was just 11." Kimeko said. "Woah, she must be super wealthy." I said. Arisu shook her head and playfully laughed. "Super wealthy would be an understatement. She's like a multi-millionaire. Most of us are though. You know, Kenta, Suuga, Hanako, Me, Yuuki, Kotaro." Arisu covered her mouth with her hand as if she didn't mean to say something. "Oh shit." She mumbled under her breath.
"Kotaro?" I questioned Arisu.
