Amanda and Toni was upstairs packing up their things cause we was leaving this afternoon. I was downstairs with mother, watching television. She was looking through her mail as I was looking through the channels.
Katherine: "why you not packing?"
Janet: "I did lastnight while everyone was sleeping since I couldn't sleep"
Katherine: "why couldn't you sleep?"
Katherine laid the envelope that she was finna open on the table that was in front of us, and looked at me.
Janet: "just a lot on my mind that's all"
Katherine: "what exactly, I'm all ears"
I forgot how my mother loved talking things out... even if she didn't really care, she was very much nosy. She noticed i didn't respond so she carried on.
Katherine: "I see that Toni is still the same Toni... beautiful...very sneaky"

I watch as she cleared her throat and looked away from me as she grabbed another envelope from the table in front of us and opened it.
Katherine: "does Amanda know?"

I put my face in my hands but my mother grabbed my wrist gently, making me remove it and look at her.

Janet: "NO" *clears throat* "it wasn't just about Toni mother, I felt like it was best, I failed Amanda, me, you guys"
Katherine: "you didn't fail anyone Janet, if Toni loved you... she would make sure you and Amanda are the happiest people on earth..."
