Chapter 17
"Okay, this is how it's going to work..." the Sergeant began. "We've got the airport locked down. There are no flights coming in or going out as of thirty minutes ago. We've got eyes on her inside the airport. I'm not going to lie boys, she's in bad shape from what I've been told."
JJ and Brian passed a look between each other but remained silent.
"Houston S.W.A.T. is on their way and should be there right about when we get there. They're going to takeover this operation and we're going to remain involved as a secondary unit. "
"I don't care who does what as long as you guys get her the hell out of there and she is safe," JJ interjected.
"I know Mr. Watt. You just have to have faith. These guys are all highly trained and highly skilled. They're the best at what they do. She's in good hands," the Sergeant reassured them.
Brian and JJ followed the Sergeant into the airport which was eerily quiet. The officers had already begun to evacuate in preparation of the S.W.A.T. team's arriving.

About a half an hour had passed. Andrew must have taken a larger dose than he'd been taking. He was sitting next to her with his fingertips just barely touching her thigh. His head had fallen backwards as if were too heavy from his neck to support and he was halfway between conscious and halfway to being passed out. Trish scanned the airport and noticed there was no traffic. The airport should have been bustling with traffic but it was an eerie silent. The only people in the lobby were Andrew, the two ladies behind the counter, and herself. She then turned slightly too late look at the TV and realized they were all off and so were the flight boards.
She then glanced over at the women behind the counter. The lady with the darker hair who had asked her if she was okay earlier was already looking back at her. She took her index finger and pressed it to her lips in a 'shh' motion. She then nonchalantly moved her eyes out to the corridor. It was then that she saw the Houston S.W.A.T. Team taking their places with their guns already drawn. She followed the corridor down to where another corridor filtered into it. Immediately she saw JJ and Brian decked out in their bulletproof vests. Her heart nearly leapt out of her chest. One of the S.W.A.T. members motioned for her to try and make her way to him.
She was scared to death but she knew it was now or never. She softly slid her leg out from under Andrew's fingers. Now came the difficult part. She wasn't sure how she was going to get up without jarring him awake. She managed to wiggle her chair a little further away from him. He snarled and she instantly froze. She waited a few moments and looked at him. He was still in an incoherent state. She gently rocked herself trying to gain enough momentum to get out of the chair.
Finally she sprung up causing pain to rip all through her body. She bit her tongue hard to stifle the screams that wanted to release from her lips. She stood there for a moment trying to get herself together.
One of the S.W.A.T. Team guys motioned for her to come to him. She began hobbling towards him as quietly as she could.
"Hey! Where the fuck do you think you're going?" Andrew snarled, still in a haze. He jumped up and grabbed her by the hair violently pulling her backwards causing her to yelp in pain. He drew his gun and pointed it wildly in all directions. "This isn't going down the way all you cops think it is. You're going to get me and this whore a plane and you're going to let us get on it and fly away in it. No funny business because I don't have a problem with taking her life! It'll make me even happier to do it in front of her pretty boy friend over there! What did you think? Did you think I wouldn't come for my property? Did you think I'd just let you have her? She may be a worthless whore but she's my worthless whore! Find your own!"
JJ snarled and lunged forward in Andrew's direction.
The Sargent and three other police officers quickly grabbed a hold of him. "No hero stuff I said!" The Sargent admonished him.
"Did you..."
"I did," The Sargent snapped, cutting him off. "I also remember telling you two no funny business. This is already a high stakes operation. We don't have room for any mess ups!"
JJ shook his head and ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.
"Calm down J, let them do their job," Brian tried reasoning. "She's going to be okay. They're going to get her back to us safe. We just have to trust them. They're the best at what they do."
"I'm not going to calm down until she's in my arms. That nut job still has her... He hurt her... He her her badly... He's still hurting her..."
"I know J. They're working on it."
"Not fast enough," he snapped.
"It'll be over soon," Brian assured him.
"Andrew, this is Sargent Johnson speaking to you. We want this ended and we want the outcome to be peaceful. I don't want anyone to get hurt... You... Trish... Or any of my men. Let's work together and get this resolved."
Andrew laughed almost maniacally. "You're amusing to me Sargent Johnson! I'm not in a negotiating type mood. You think I care if this bitch dies? Do you think I care if any of your men die? No! I don't care at all!"
"Andrew, that's not what we want. We want everyone to be safe and walk out of here safely. What can I do for you that will help facilitate this?"
"I don't give a shit what you want!"
"Let's work together Andrew. What can I get you? Food? Water?"
"I want more dope. I need time to think. That helps me think."
"That's not something we can do for you Andrew. You know that. Now how about some food or drink?" Sargent Johnson continued to try and negotiate with Kevin.
"I told you my demands! Meet them. Time is ticking! I'm running out drugs and I'm not going to be a very happy camper when I'm out!"
"Okay let's start with some basic things. How about you let go of Trish's hair and let her stand upright?"
Andrew laughed again. "I already told you I don't give a fuck about her!"
"You have to give me something in order to get something from us Andrew."
Andrew pulled Trish upright roughly to a standing position causing her to cry out in pain again. The more pain he caused her the more delight he took in his actions.
"I need another hit. Stand in front of me and shield me," he ordered. Andrew took to taking his last shot and quickly entered into his hazy state.
Andrew was so high he could barely stand. He was leaning hard on Trish who he still had a hold of by the hair, still using her as a human shield. Andrew's head sloped down until it was resting on her shoulder. She watched silently as the officers in the left side of the corridor began to move in closer. Two officers tumbled behind the service desk and remained in a crouched position with their guns drawn. The ladies who had previously occupied the space had vanished.
Andrew slightly came to and noticed one of the officers behind the desk. Trish knew it was now or never. She clasped her hand into a tight fist and swung at him. Her hand landed hard on his jaw, stunning him and causing him to stumble. She pushed through all the pain she felt in her body and ran towards the awaiting police.
It was then she heard a loud bang behind her. Her legs would no longer work. Her hearing was fading out. She heard another bang but it was nowhere near as loud as the first one was to her. It was then that she realized she was falling forward. Her vision was very quickly becoming dark. Soon everything was dark and quiet... Peaceful...
