The reassured smile he received from the princess was enough for him to begin to walk. First, he led her to the baker. He had a small tray of little breads and he was handing them out as he spoke with the townspeople.
"Incea Soferi!"
The baker was very energetic as he handed out his baked goods. The smile on his rosy cheeks rose all the way up to his eyes that crinkled slightly in the corners. He seemed overjoyed with all the the lively people walking about.
"Defia Salex!" He cheered with a hearty grin, outstretching the tray of various breads to the Prince.
The princess watched, half tucked behind the Prince like a child hiding behind their moms skirt.
"Jimin!" Prince Soobin greeted, giving the baker a gentle bow before taking a piece of bread for himself.
The two exchanged pleasantries, going back and forth in the confusing language. Sometimes the princess thought she might've caught a word she understood, but she could never hold onto it long enough to even begin to understand it. Her eyes grew wide as she watched the exchange with a hopeless expression. Her eyes flicked back and forth as each person spoke, but she never could've guessed what they spoke of.
There was a short break in the conversation, a momentary pause in which the bakers eyes shifted towards her. He offered her a kind smile and then his eyes drifted to the Prince.
"He asked if you would like some bread. He wondered if you had such foods in your kingdom," Soobin murmured to her, giving her hand a gentle squeeze.
The princess raised her hand to the tray, the baker gently moving it towards her, as a universal gesture that it was alright for her to take something. She gently plucked a small bun from the tray and then bowed her head as a symbol of gratitude.
"Could you please tell him that I say 'thank you'?" She asked the Prince before taking a bite of her bread.
"Def-Elin aeds inshi renia," the Prince translated to the baker.
The bakers smile grew wide before he seemed to have an obvious idea. He looked to the princess, who was slowly nibbling on her bun, seemingly delighted, and he spoke to the best of his abilities.
"You are welcome!" He said, enunciating each word as thoroughly as he could. The words were certainly foreign on his tongue and he seemed to be full of pride as he saw the recognition flash in the eyes of the princess.
The princess offered him a wide smile in return and continued to enjoy her bun whilst Soobin conversed with the baker.
"His name is Jimin. His father is owns the village bakery," Soobin explained to the princess as she nodded.
"So is the bakery his to inherit?" The princess asked curiously.
"Should he so choose," Soobin nodded.
"Interesting... inheritance comes with choice here. I see I have much to learn," she hummed.
The bun she had received from the baker was the best bread she had ever tasted. The outside crust was slightly buttery and the centre of the bread was as soft as clouds. The flavour was one she would never forget. She had no such delicacies in her kingdom.
After saying their fond fair-wells to the bakers son, the two headed off in a different direction, Soobin leading Princess (Y/N) by her hand. The streets were busy, but as each villager passed by, they bowed their head at the Prince, who seemed to be walking closer to the castle with determination. Music grew louder from musicians playing on fiddles and flutes as the two grew closer to the main area of the festivities. Knights had shed their armour and were dancing around with villager women with huge smiles on their faces, enjoying the festivities.
