Heyy guysss!! I was sitting on the bed today and I started thinking about how close I am to Chapter 20 in this book. Truthfully, I didn't think that I was going to make it this far, but I'm glad that I did. Anywayy, this is Nina's  POV. Enjoy, vote, and comment.

Being in the apartment alone is stressing me out. Some part of me already knows that Anderson isn't going to come back, but the other part is hoping that he will.

Although there hasn't been any suspicious people hanging around outside, I'm still keeping everything packed and ready. Those instructions that Anderson gave me weren't just for precaution. He knows that something is going to happen and I intend to be ready for it.

The bag packed near the secret exit is filled with the map and directions, food, beverages, and the fully charged phone that he was talking about.

At first I was a little hesitant about the secret door and the phone. Anyone can track technology these days and I've seen both Vivian and Anderson leave through the door. I thought that the door was a way for them to converse with other people.

Apparently, my suspicions were wrong. It probably wasn't the smartest idea, but I did open the door and shine a flashlight just to make sure. It was like one of those secret rooms in an Underground Railroad safe house. The only difference was that it had some stairs and a door that led to the backyard of the apartment.

As for the phone, I realized that I didn't have to worry. During our early High School years, Anderson wanted to become a professional hacker and I wanted to become a homicide detective.

Our dreams were both a little out there for two kids who were better at sports than thinking outside of the box and decoding passwords to hack into other people's computers.

Of course we took classes that were beneficial to our goals, but we didn't pursue them like we should have.

Our parents did not encourage us, so we just gave up. His parents just wanted him to make as much money as they did and all my mom wanted for me was a good husband.

No scratch that. She wanted me to have a husband with money. She didn't care how he was getting the money, she just needed someone to brag about to others.

Anderson decided to change his career choice to becoming the CEO of a large company. Everyone, including the parents of our classmates, believed in him. Anderson was the most ambitious student at our school. His grades were all A's and he was the student council president.

In addition to those qualities, his family had a large amount of money. In my mother's eyes, he was the perfect candidate for marrige.

Somewhere between the time that we started dating and the time that we graduated, I did fall in love with him. My whole life revolved around him.

There were wedding magazines lying all around the house with items that were worth more than my parent's car, but Anderson and his family didn't care. They were living on a mountain of money.

Soon after we decided on a wedding date, one of Mr. McCall's best clients decided to sue him.

Unlike most people, he didn't worry about going to court. All he had to do was call up one of the best lawyers in the world.

That's just how powerful and rich he was, but instead of winning the case Mr. McCall lost all of his money. Apparently, there was too much evidence against him in order for him to win the case.

To this day Mr. McCall swears that he didn't do what he was accused of, but I think differently. That was the day that everything changed.  My mother wanted me to find someone else, but she was still hoping that Anderson would get the position as a CEO. Anderson's family started drifting apart and he decided to beat me.

I guess that was his way of releasing the pain.

Okayy soo that was a little background information, but Chapter 18 will be coming soon. I don't know who's POV it is going to be in yet, so I will take requests. Just comment the person's name or send it to me through a message.
