Nina doesn't move an inch, but I know that she's awake. The room is eerily quiet and her attentiveness makes me more guarded than usual.
She's waiting for me to fall asleep or slip up just like Anderson did. I'm not as trusting as him, especially in situations like these.
I do things like this for a living. If the person cooperates, nobody gets hurt. Killing is not in my job description.
Even though I have never killed, I still know how to use the knife stored in my boots. My hubby makes sure I know how to protect myself.
Hopefully, Nina doesn't give me any problems. I can't afford to mess this job up. There are so many people that want to have her in their possesion, but I can't let that happen. Nobody is going to mess up our plans.
(Anderson's POV)
When I found out how important Nina is, I was given the job of protecting her. There were many obvious reasons why I couldn't object.
1. I owe her my life.
2. I love her.
3. This could make her love me again.
4. Her biological father is my boss.
I quickly accepted the offer not thinking about the consequences. By consequences I mean Nina's mother, Vivian.
She thinks I'm dumb and that she can manipulate me for money.
That's all she cares about besides her boyfriend Leonardo.
Vivian has had numerous "boy toys" over the years, but Leonardo Mendoza camnot fit into that category. He isn't the type of person you get rid of easily.
He is the leader of the largest drug cartel in the United States and the thing he seeks the most is revenge.
His number one target is Mr.Costanzo and Leonardo sent Vivian to do his dirty work. She may be bright, but I'm pretty sure Señor Mendoza didn't inform her that Costanzo is one of the most respected men in the Italian Mafia.
That's the thing that doesn't add up. If he told Vivian to find someone to help her do the job, and it's this important, why did she pick me.
Vivian Holter has no idea what she is getting herself into. When Mr. Costanzo finds out she's apart of this little scheme he's going to ship her head to Leonardo on a silver platter and I'm going to be the one to deliver it. That is..if she doesn't find out about my loyalty to Mr. Costanzo first.
