“Hey Eden, you decent?” I wait until I hear Eden laugh and then open the door to her office. She looks completely exhausted. Beautiful and fully pregnant, but exhausted. “I didn’t wake you or anything, did I?”

“No you didn’t, I was just looking at the calendar trying to reschedule things.”

Eden is expecting my nephew in just a matter of weeks, in fact, the countdown was completely on and Fletch was just saying that she could go into labor at any minute now. I’m excited to have another nephew but scared shitless of a baby around these parts. Joey is awesome, he’s six now and basically meant to be a Mason. He came into our lives when he was four and took us all by storm. It was easy to get along with a kid. A baby this time around? I’m not sure how that is going to go.

“What's up? Fletch called and said it was an emergency.”

She looks away from her computer for a moment, “Not totally an emergency, but you know the wedding I have this weekend?”

“Yeah…”

“The DJ that they hired just called and canceled because of some emergency. I know you aren’t a DJ, per se, but is there any way you could fill in?”

“Shit, Eden, that’s asking a lot. As you said, I’m not really a DJ. I can put together a few playlists and hook everything up, but I’m not going to interact or anything.”

“That is what I told them,” she said, referring to the couple getting married, “and they said it was okay, that it wasn’t about the DJ service, it was the music and playing fun songs. I called their DJ and he said he’d send over the playlist he had ready to go.”

“You’re killing me, Eden,” I groan.

“Please, please, please. You wouldn’t say no to a pregnant woman, would you?” She says while pouting.

“That’s just mean, you know I have a hard enough time saying no to you anyway.”

“One night, Parker. Come on, they’re even willing to pay you what they were going to pay the other DJ. I won’t even take a vendor fee.”

“Fine, Eden. For YOU and only you, I will help out this weekend.”

She gets up from her chair as quickly as she can and throws her arms around me. Her belly is pressed up against mine when I feel the oddest movement that I almost jump back. “What the hell, Eden? “

“That’s your nephew, Parker.”

“Does it always move around like that?”

She shrugs, “Not always, but I just ate and so now he’s all super hyper. Do you want to feel?”

“I mean if that’s okay.”

“Right here.” She takes my hand and places it on the side of her stomach and the waves running through her stomach can be visibly seen from the outside and felt by my hand.

“That’s crazy. What does it feel like?”

“Like you’ve got something crazy moving around in your stomach. It is pretty cool, but weird all at the same time.”

“That’s pretty neat, Eden.”

Her eyes soften a bit and she gives my hand a squeeze, “How are you doing?”

“I’m good,” I lie. “Just keeping myself busy with work and my music.”

“Have you heard from her?”
