PARKER
I haven’t seen Jolie in two days and I think I might be dying. Alright, so I’m exaggerating, but this last-minute trip we made to Denver to help pick up baby items turned into a full weekend trip because the store ordered something incorrectly and Fletch refused to go back home until we got the right one. I love my brother, I really do, but I had two days off of work and I wanted to spend it with my woman.
Since it was already eight in the evening and we just finished getting the shit loaded into Fletch’s truck, we decided that it made the most sense to spend one more night and drive back in the morning. I moaned and groaned, but he was right. Luckily Mel and Adam had just moved into a new place and they had an extra room, plus a couch that we could crash on.
“Alright, I told Mel we’d pick up some food and some beer on our way back to their place and they agreed we could spend another night,” Fletch said as we pulled out of the baby store.
I laughed at him, “Cheapest hotel ever. Think I can get the bed tonight?”
Fletch sighs, “Yeah, I guess that would probably be alright.”
We drive a bit longer without saying much when I break the silence, “Can I ask you something without you thinking I’m a huge fucking wuss?”
“I have a feeling this is about Jolie. Or at least it better be because I would kick your ass if you were some two-timing douche bag.”
“Shit, hell no. I can’t imagine doing anything like that to Jolie. She’s the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
“Good,” Fletch glanced over at me for a moment, “what’s your question?”
“How do you deal with being away from Eden? Because I’m itching to get back to Jolie and it is driving me nuts.”
Fletch starts laughing and takes one hand off the steering wheel and slaps my shoulder, “Oh baby brother, you are whipped as whipped can be, aren’t you?”
I shove his arm away, “What? You’re telling me you don’t miss Eden?”
“Oh, I miss Eden like crazy. I’m also one whipped mother fucker. Hell, the only reason why I’m here is that she HAD to have this baby furniture and it HAD to be in this color. Do you think I care if the dresser is a different stain color than everything else?”
“No, probably not.”
“Not a chance in hell. When I called her yesterday though and told her about the error, she started crying and I knew that my ass wasn’t coming back until I got the right one because I love her so god damn much and I want her to have everything she wants. “
This time it was my turn to laugh at my brother, “You whipped motherfucker.”
True to our promise, we stopped by the store and picked up beer and dinner to take back to Mel and Adam’s place. We had a quick dinner and sat on the back patio to drink a few beers before finally retiring to bed for the night. I knew we were leaving in the morning, but I couldn’t get Jolie and everything about Jolie off my mind. I pulled out my phone and started doing some digging. I wanted to make one more stop before heading home.
The next morning I begged Fletch to make one more quick stop before we hit the highway to head home. He was a bit annoyed at first, but eventually, he agreed to make the pit stop. “So what are we doing here again?” Fletch asked as he pulled into the parking lot.
“I think these are some old friends of Jolie’s and I just want to stop by and say hi.”
“Are they expecting you?”
