Chapter 37

JOLIE

After hanging up the phone, Parker starts to move around the room, grabbing his wallet and keys. “Holy shit we need to go!”

“What, who was that?”

“It was Fletch and he said Eden went into labor and it is going fast.”

“Oh my god!” I jump off the bed and grab my purse and start to run out the door. Parker is behind me, but he closes the door and starts to laugh.

“What are you doing? We need to get going!” 

“I know, Red, but we’re about a three-and-a-half-hour drive away, not down the road. We need to pack up all our things and check out before we can leave.”

I start laughing too, “Oh, that’s right. Sorry I just got super excited.”

“I know, me too, Red.”

He leans down and gives me a quick kiss before pulling me away from the door and starting to pack things up. I hadn’t taken out too much, but I did bring in my bags so they weren’t sitting in the car. Once we loaded them into my car, Parker went to check out. The clerks working the front desk gave us a bit of a look when we told them we needed to check out early. Pretty sure they thought we were just using the room for sex. Jokes on them, we hadn’t even gotten near that point before the phone call.

We both have a car, so Parker walks me out to my car and opens the door while I get in, “Alright, drive safe, okay?”

“You too.”

“And if you need to stop, call me, okay?”

“I got this, Parker,” I giggle. “Are you going right to the hospital?”

“Yeah, you?” I nod. Parker leans in the car and kisses me again, almost taking my breath away. “I love you, Jolie. We’re going to make this work, okay?”

“I love you too, Parker. Thank you for being the guy that you are. I wouldn’t be the person I am not without you, I’ll do whatever it takes to make us good again.”

“We got this, Jolie.” He gives me one more kiss and then closes my door. I get my car started, but wait for him to get in his truck so he can follow behind me. A weight is lifted off my shoulders for now. I know we have a lot of things to work on in our relationship, but I have faith Parker and I are going to be good. I’m ready to head back home to Glenwood Springs.

After the long drive, we changed our minds and decided to stop at Parker’s place since it was on the way to the hospital, that way we were only taking one vehicle over there. We got to the hospital and went right to the nurse’s station.

“Hi! Um, my sister-in-law, Eden Mason, she’s in labor. So I guess maternity ward?”

The nurse signed us in and gave us two visitor passes and sent us down the hall to the elevators. The maternity ward is located on the third floor. When the doors opened, Parker took my hand and almost pulled me out of my shoes trying to hurry to the waiting room. There were saw his entire family. Toni, Eden’s friend Carly, and their sister Mel were there as well. 

“Hey!” Parker announced our presence, just a bit out of breath.

Everybody looked up and almost jumped out of their seats when they saw us. At first, I thought they were excited to see Parker, but then Toni came right for me and wrapped her arms around me tightly, followed by Cade and Damon and I knew that their excitement was for me as well.

“Are you good?” Toni whispered in my ear.

“Yeah, I’m good. I’m really good. I’m so sorry about everything that happened.”
